here's an oldie from that stadium.

It is one of the newer stadiums completed in the late 1980s.

contrary to the reports in the worldstadiums, it actually has a capacity of 40k making it the second largest stadium in Iraq.

during renovation I think.

وان هذه المشاريع تتضمن إنشاء منتدى شباب ورياضة في ناحية علي الشرقي ومنتدى للثقافة والفنون ومنتدى آخر للرعاية العلمية التخصصي في مركز مدينة العمارة لتطوير القابليات الشبابي

no not for the gulf cup.

the gulf cup will be played in basrah, in the main stadium and in the smaller one

Sports ministry to launch 10 projects in Babel

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The youths & sports ministry will embark on ten projects in the province of Babel, including an integrated sports city over an area of 350 donums, during 2011, the minister said on Sunday.

“The ministry is setting up 130 projects all over Iraq in 2011, including eight strategic facilities and world-class soccer pitches up to the FIFA standards,” Jassem Mohammed Jaafar said during a press conference with Waleed al-Hilli, a member of parliament for Babel province.

One Iraqi donum equals 2500 square meters.

“The ministry finalized in Babel four projects during 2006, four in 2007, twelve in 2008, four in 2009, four in 2010 and there will be 10 projects in 2011, including a sports city,” Jaafar added.

For his part, Hilli noted that the sports city will be built on the Hilla-Diwaniya highway, adding it will comprise a stadium up to 30,000 spectators.

Baghdad FC playground in AlZawraa
(former name of Baghdad FC is Al Amana)
its one of the small clubs in Iraq , so its not a good club cause of the name name

Al Zawraa would deserve that name more but Al amana ( Baghdad Municipality )
changed their name to Baghdad FC , because the club is owned by Baghdad Municipality .
