OK, but it is still not clear that is Tbilisi now thinking returning tram? if yes, when the tram service will start?

Is there any remains of the previous tram system? Try to post some phtose of the remains.

Haven't you read the first post.??????

Systra is working on post project work and then project work.

After that there will be tender for construqcting network and supplying vehicles.

Fist tram line may be only in 2013 al least if not in 2014 surely.


Yes there are lot's of remains, rails in some parts of city, depot, masts hangers, and all that stuff.

Ashis Mitra is a bit obsessed with old tram systems and their physical remains. Whenever he reads about an old tramway, he asks if buried rails have been discovered during roadworks.

Choosing a tram designed by CAF has other symbolisms to it. Mainly, it is designed in the Iberia of the west. Additionally, CAF-built trams are used by Tbilisi's sister city of Bilbao.

Tbilisi is not choosing anything right now, a ig possibility that trams will be from Alstom those Citadis, with their rigid stupid bogies.

BUt me and many people don't want that in city authority.

But let's see.

‘Sistra’ is a public railway-transportation company headquartered in Paris. It has projects in Africa, Asia, Europe. Agreement with ‘Sistra’ was signed by Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and head of Georgian Railway Irakli Ezugbaia on 18 December 2010.
‘Sistra’ carries out project of regulation of transport routes in Tbilisi.
Stephan Cohen was found murdered in his room at the hotel Courtyard Marriott.

1. What's up with those "modified" Škoda 14Tr (without the middle doors)? Why did they take them out?

2. In the real old tram pics, there are a lot of three section articulated trams, but did I see correctly? Did the middle part had no wheels?

Middle part had no wheels. it's made in Tbilis they made 4 this kind of trams in tram trolley master depot.

There is no trolleybus network in Tbilis nor in other cities of Georgia all were shut down.

Hybrid 87 was asking why the Škoda 14Tr in Tblisi did not have middle doors. That's what he meant by "Why did they take them [the doors] out?".

In Tbilis ther were Skoda 14T's which had not middle doors itself it 50 troleybusses were made especially for Tbilisi and Kiev.

BUt also in Tbilisi the middle door were not using ultimately and they were taken out on some trolleys.

ok. but my question was "why"? Weather extremes (for example Škoda 9Tr was made specially for some soviet union cities with 2 doors due to the weather - cold winters)?

Because as much I remember the 14Tr's all have 3 doors when they came out of the factory (excluding the one's for USA).

50 trolleybuses of Skoda 14Tr were made with two doors for Tbilisi and Kiev.

but Tbilisi's trolleys Skoda 14Tr with 3 doors then were remade as 2 doors because lines were small shut down and passengers were very small amount and 3 door was not needed.
