Forum is to get better and more organised

Hi guys

Our forum is about to change, for the better. Things are going to be better streamlined into new categories, splitting out regional discussions from the actual projects and having more places to put things to do with the economy and our general society at large.

This should start to happen over the coming days, so dont panic if it all looks different. once complete i will start to move threads to the relevant new sub forums.

A better SSC SA awaits.

Good, but the increased sub forums will be thinly spread. Not much is happening in the SA forum already. People are probably spending their times being more productive

or they cant find anything...or they live in Joburg and well have clearly fallen off the face of the earth. Its been holidays, most people away and nothing is really happening in the property industry now.

We need the changes, if they are not fully utilised i will curtail some of them. The key thing is that participation needs to be encouraged and the current format makes that difficult. Durban and CT threads have high participation, but Joburg is poor.

guys there are a few niggles and things which will be altered but hopefully once finalised it will be an easier to use forum that can hopefully lead to more specific threads on issues rather than the long threads we tend to have that talk about so many things.

Looks great! Cleaner. One minor suggestion: please move the "I want to move to SA" threads into the shebeen section from the rest of SA section. They are better suited there.

It's looking great but there are a few issues in the regional sections. Instead of having subforums like:

Joburg
Projects
Discussion
Pretoria
Projects
Discussion

with each a separate subforum, why not create Joburg and Pretoria subsections and put the Projects and Discussions subforums inside them? Not sure if I've explained it properly but let me know what ya'll think!

Just seems silly as what would be posted in the Johannesburg subforum? There's already a discussion for it.. Same goes for all the other cities

as i mentioned above there are still some areas which where not created correctly and will be changed and alterred by the web admins, with things like this there are bound to be issues. All will be sorted in time.

It'd look better and be easier to find sections quickly if the subforums are arranged alphabetically too.

Just my 2 cents to the admins during the changes....some sections like "airport & aviation" also include port works, so maybe rename to say "airport, aviation and harbours", or have a separate subsection for harbours?

Similarly with energy, it not too clear which subsection this falls under, maybe rename "economy & public services" to include "energy" in the title.

Otherwise, great job! hope you don't mind my thoughts

Maritime is getting its own section and this was left out in the initial changes mistakenly, as were a number of other niggles which are going to be fixed in the coming days.

Energy is in essence a public service, they were restrictive in terms of how long i could make the subforum names.
