The South is due for some rain this weekend, and hopefully, it will be enough to at least put out the brush fires in North Florida.

Also in Central Florida as well, especially in Brevard and Volusia counties. I believe there are stretches of I-95 that have been closed because of the smoke from nearby brushfires.

I think they are getting some decent rain from a lot of the Doppler radar maps I've seen. It's just that they are at such a deficit, it's going to take more rain just to get the Drought Monitor to look different.

You know what they say, all drought ends in flood. I think it will take a slow moving tropical system to wipe out the drought in the Arklatex region. Hopefully we can get a weak, moist tropical storm in the early season where they don't usually get too strong to aid the drought situation there.

I'm suprised by the lack of coverage here for the severe weather that has hit parts of Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. There were a lot of wildfires in southeast Georgia near the Waycross area, so hopefully the rain can put them out.

Looks like a good soaking for parts of the Southeast over the next couple of days as the "Jet Stream" brings an increase in rain activity and coverage. This is great news for many, especially those folks combating the sporadic wildfires in S.E. Georgia and N.E. Florida.
