Sidi Bel Abbès tramway inaugurated

ALGERIA: The fourth tramway in Algeria opened on July 25, when the 14·3 km route in Sidi Bel Abbès was inaugurated by Minister of Transport & Public Works Abdelghani Zaalane.

Yapı Merkezi acted as construction contractor. The Cital joint venture of Alstom (49%), Ferrovial (41%) and Entreprise du Métro d’Alger (10%) has supplied 30 Citadis trams assembled at its factory in Annaba. The 100% low-floor seven-section trams are 44 m long capacity for 302 passengers. According to Alstom, the livery is the colour of wheat fields, a symbol of the region.

Services are operated by the Setram joint venture of RATP Dev (49%), Etablissement Public de Transport Urbain et Suburbain d’Alger (36%) and EMA (15%).

soon The first tramway of the desert.
the Citadis tram for the city of Ouargla is capable of transporting over 400 passengers. To adapt to the desert climate of the city of Ouargla, significant technical updates have been made to the tram. Several components have been modified to withstand maximum temperatures of up to 49 degrees, intense solar radiation, and high levels of dust and sand in the air. To this end, the air conditioning system has been reinforced, the windows have been equipped with a solar protection film, the traction and the braking have been modified for greater impermeability, and the exposed parts (joints, shock absorbers and pantograph) have been protected.

mostaganem tramway
The project to build the Mostaganem tramway has been entrusted to the Algerian group Cosider-public works / Cosider-works of art, which will take charge of the completion of the project instead of the Spanish company,
The Spanish company "Corsan Corviam" in charge of the layout of the tramway in Mostaganem declared bankruptcy and requested to cancel the contract
This decision was taken at a meeting held at the Ministry's headquarters, chaired by the Minister of Public Works and Transport Abdelghani Zaalane, in the presence of the Wali of Mostaganem, the head of the Ground Transportation of Passengers Group (Transtev) and the CEO of Cosider, the ministry said in a statement.

The talks focused on the relaunch of the Mostaganem tramway project. The Minister has given instructions for the completion of the work as soon as possible
