This is first phase development of 17 acre land.Developers develop properties as per their profitability and market facing all the risks..They dont develop as per our wish and whims who dont spend any amount and just want them to develop iconic projects.

Dude why dont you respond to my point. All this space that is being eaten up by private developers could be much better used for public spaces/affordable housing etc.

More of these buildings is going to continue creating an attitude of the rich being separate from the masses and keeping the poor out of sight out of mind. Do we really need 6 elevators per building aka one elevator for every 33 apartments? My building has 2 superfast elevators for every 75 apartments at least and its never been a problem...

Anyway maybe this conversation would be better placed in Discussions Thread.

The space isn't being eaten by private developers alone.
The government sells off these plots at as high a price they can possibly get, effectively reserving them for the rich and the super rich (fractional percentile) of the city.
The Adarsh issue may be a pointer as to why this happens.
yeah, it's disappointing that despite such expensive apartments we land up with minuscule open spaces.

A majority of big plots are sold with condition that half it will be reserved for MHADA(affordable housing) and open space(BMC garden). If you look at Dec 10 pic the plot on the left is given to MHADA and the building is also u/c. The builder will develop a garden in construction phase and will hand over to BMC
