about dhobi ghat, isnt it too close to mahalaxmi station to be redeveloped?

the thing about dhobi ghat is that a lot of people or dhobis dont actually stay there. So you start to hand out flats as compensation, 1000s more pop out of the woodwork (sometimes legitimate sometimes otherwise)

This is exactly why developing slums is extremely hard compared to developing chawls.

Chawls have defined rooms with renters staying there (at like rs5 a month). It is easy to indentify who the shareholders are and thus project can move forward. there is some paperwork.

In places like dharavi, you start to develop some land and thousands pop forward claiming to have lived there since 1995.

Dont see a developer touching dhobi ghat when there are so many chawls left. there are also less ngo's to deal with.

This one deserves a huge applause. One of the best buildings to come up in Mumbai. Absolutely loving it. Woo Hoo!!!
I actually like the fact how they impose the building render on a real image and make it look like real. Gives a good perception of how the things will be in the future if it is supposed to come up.

No wat i meant was, wen i jus passed by the site a couple of days bak wen i was in mumbai the site looked dead, nor was the site enclosed by huge aluminium coverings and there wasnt any render depicting the structure coming up there..............thtz d reason i wanted to know if the project is on hold or if work is in progress...
