Wait a second, a A318 with Sharklets?

Airbus doesn't have any outstanding orders for the A318 right now, so they only built this plane to have the Sharklets certified on all types of the A320? Or is this a retrofit?

I guess this wasn't that "expensive" to put it on the A318 aswell.
Airbus might want to boost the business jets sales with these sharklets.

If operators want to have on their A318 sharklets devices, need to be tested without any admission tests but there are no more orders for the A318
this its the officel last A318

I'd want to see even more A318s myself... its range can be longer than the A320, albeit with less passengers.

That's probably the only 2 reasons why they did it.

And Airbus probably still sees some future for a A318neo VIP, but only after current engines won't be sold anymore.

The Royal Brunei paint job looks like a step backwards from the current livery.

It will be just a month or two until AA A319´s with winglets arrives at DFW. Those birds will be lovely in the new livery

Indeed it is. Their old livery looks great, minus the very old lettering. I would bring back the tail livery that represents the Sultanate of Brunei, with the new lettering that represents modern Brunei.

Like Malaysia Airlines, I don't like Royal Brunei's old or new liveries. In theory, the old one looks nice, but in reality, it doesn't age well. The planes aren't always maintained well, and combined with the yellow body, makes the plane look older than it really is. The only thing I like about the new one is that it's discreet, and modern.

A319 and A321 with sharklets will be certified within the next months. CFM A319 will be certified (around July after six months of testing) before IAE V2500 (which is a month or two behind).

As for the A380 getting them, probably not. This is for two reasons, firstly the A380 is already 25cm away from the current legal limit on wingspan. A380 size sharkets would increase the wingspan by a few metres.

According to Twitter, Airbus is planning to test some interesting systems on a A320 next year

Quote:
Airbus plans to flight-test bleedless air conditioning and wing anti-ice demonstrator systems for next-gen aircraft on an A320 in 2014.
