Now that's a fancy way to advertise both Air Macau and Macau itself... with the new sharklets too!

Final assembly of VietJetAir’s first A320 on order from Airbus is now underway in Toulouse, France. This is the first of up to 100 of the best-selling single aisle aircraft that will be acquired by the airline under a deal finalised in February this year. The acquisition plan covers firm orders with Airbus for 63 aircraft, plus 30 purchase rights. In addition the airline will lease seven more aircraft from third party lessors. VietJetAir will start taking delivery of its new A320 Family fleet in Q4 of this year. The aircraft will join an existing fleet of 15 leased A320s at the fast-growing low cost carrier and will be operated on the airline’s expanding network of domestic and regional services.

IndiGo(India) places largest-ever order for planes, to buy 250 A320neo aircraft

In the largest aircraft order in terms of number of aircraft, IndiGo has announced to buy 250 Airbus 320 neo (new engine option) today.

This order by IndiGo will also be the largest by the airline. The airline had earlier ordered 100 aircraft in 2005 and another 180 aircraft in 2011. While the airline has received 99 aircraft from the 100 aircraft order, the delivery of 180 aircraft order will begin by the end of 2015 calendar year.

The airline did not share the delivery schedule for the aircraft but it is beloved that the delivery of these Aircraft may begin after 2025, after the completion of 180 aircraft order.

"This new order reaffirms IndiGo's commitment to the long-term development of affordable air transportation in India and overseas. The additional aircraft will enable us to continue to bring our low fares and courteous, hassle free service to more customers and markets and will create more job opportunities and growth. The IndiGo team is energised and excited to herald this new phase of our growth." IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh was quoted in a release from the company.

Engine selection for this order is not expected to be made in the near future, said a release from the company.

The A320 Family is the world's best-selling single aisle product line with almost 11,000 orders to date and over 6,200 aircraft delivered to 400 customers and operators worldwide.

With this order confirmed, Total Order for A320neo by Indigo is 530

So most of them are probably replacements for non-NEO version they ordered earlier?

According to someone on Airliners their plan is to retire new planes after just 6 years. Something to do with costly maintenance rules in India that make it more to just retire the planes.

They have already retired 16 of their 1st order for 100 A320ceo's
http://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/I...story-a320.htm

If this will continue we will see more and more retirements over the next couple of years, the current fleet will all be gone in 2020. They will be replaced with the 180 neo's they already had on order. Since they are also growing they will even need more new planes in the future if they want to keep on replacing them after 6 years. And right there this new order comes into play, these 250 are ordered to replace the the 180 neo's from the 1st order. The 70 extra are then again for growth. If this continues the next order will even be bigger. The drawback is that when IndiGo goes bust or changes their strategy it could result in a the largest cancellation in numbers ever.

It will also have a huge effect on the 2nd hand market with so many very young neo's being offered for sale from 2021/2022. That will dampen the prices in this market and therefor creating good opportunities for other airlines to pick them up for cheap. This could result in less orders directly for Airbus. But with the extremely large backlog for the neo this won't be a big problem for Airbus. Just like a big cancellation won't hurt Airbus right now.

Don't start making that comment because it is quite insensitive in nature. I understand what you want to aim for though... but, I think that that comment is out of place.

I don't mind it on a LCC, but I would be a bit disappointed if I saw it on a full service carrier.
