You will see a lot of this with Pratt Engined Variants, which is where ANZ ordered their engines. Better look like you are 'in control' of your own destiny before more bad news comes out of P&W.

You can always bring an order forward a tad if the production situation improves.

sorry a bit off topic but This is what Vistara Means and its logo :- Vistara is derived from vistaar means 'infinite expanse' in Sanskrit. It is the perfect cue for an airline that will push back the boundaries of air travel and create seamless experiences. It also conjures up the image most associated with a smooth flight– an endless, blue horizon.

The Vistara star is derived from a yantra, an ancient symbol that depicts an unbounded universe in a perfect mathematical form. At its heart, is an 8 pointed star derived from the compass rose that signals the brand's commitment to excellence in everything that it does.

@billding Why you think it Vistara name suit a resort then an Airline company ? Vistara is sanskrit word Vistar mean 'infinite expanse' already said above. SIA and TATA JV wanted their Airline company to be named from Sanskrit so they choose Vistar.

Indigo...the only airline that took delivery of Pratt engined A320neos in April and May..has now grounded 7 of their neos as they wait for Pratt to swap the engines out.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...t-engine-fixes

The article hints there are problems with Indian customs...an engine could be worth $10m even though the key part inside may only cost $10000

I wonder will the P&W engine problems result in a lot more LEAP-1A powered A320neo's being delivered.

No. CFM have a target to transition manufacturing from the ceo to the leap engine by 2019 some time, CFM are on target or a tad behind it but they have no 'spare' engines to plug a gap in P&W production and will not have any spare capacity before 2020 I would think.

P&W are essentially stuck with a buffer inventory of up to 40 spare engines for the next year or two now meaning 20 frames will not be produced in 2017 as their engines are used as spares for swapouts, but they may get back on track delivering to airbus towards november/december and fully get on schedule in 2018 some time. Quite a few operators have deferred some/all of their 2018 deliveries of P&W neos already.

If there are no more component degradation hiccups in 2018 P&W can run down their inventory a bit in 2019. There is evidence that they cannot manufacture turbine blades as fast as they thought they could too which also affects supply.

IndiGo grounds seven A320neos over P&W engine problems

IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi Int'l) has grounded at least seven of its A320neo aircraft over ongoing problems with the Pratt & Whitney PW1100 geared turbofan engines. Analysis of FlightRadar24 ADS-B data shows that the following aircraft have been in Delhi for at least the past ten days:

- VT-ITG (msn 6868) since May 16
- VT-ITF (msn 6860) since June 21
- VT-ITN (msn 7252) since June 21
- VT-ITJ (msn 6967) since June 26
- VT-ITM (msn 7053) since June 27
- VT-ITK (msn 7001) since June 30
- VT-ITS (msn 6772) since July 8

Replacement engines have been slow in coming to the Indian low-cost carrier, as the engine-maker needs to prioritise new aircraft coming off the production line. "PW is facing this issue on the A320neos globally. Due to this, it is unable to supply replacement engines at the required pace," an unnamed source told The Times of India.

Spirit have two completely engineless neos sitting in DFW for over three months now. No date for a fix.

Norwegians soggy share price has much to do with the imminent delivery of P&W neos they can no longer lease out, starting with #4 and #5 for HK Express (of the 12 that HK Express were to lease from Norwegian) . HK are still taking ceos

Those #4 and #5 frames are sitting in Hamburg in storage as HK Express won't take them until the engine fixes are installed.

Go Air last took delivery of a neo 6 months back and VT-WGG VT-WGH and VT-WGI are also stored awaiting engines.

In my opinion, Pratt & Whitney and Airbus should admit that the current PW1100G engines are defective in design and P&W should redesign the engine and borrow 2-4 planes for a new test program to get the plane re-certified by the FAA and EASA with the upgraded engines. This is a similar problem that plagued the early 747-100's with the JT9D front fans--it took nearly two years for Pratt & Whitney to fix the problem, and by that time Boeing was going to certify the 747-200 with the GE CF6-50 and Rolls-Royce RB.211-524 engines.

I'd give Pratt until December...which is 2 years after EIS with Lufthansa anyway.

Luckily Leap engine production is fine with no hiccups at all, unlike the hiccup with the Boeing Leap over a part in May. So only 30-40% of neos are affected by P&W in the end.

Fortunately, very few 737 MAX airliners are in service, so that issue with the LEAP-1B engine affected few planes in service. But the PW1100G issue has seriously affected service availability of the A320neo, and CFM International has not fully ramped up LEAP-1A production, either (CFM International is more interested in ramping up LEAP-1B production for the large number of 737 MAX deliveries starting this fall.).

Airbus gave out some about Pratt today during their H1 Financial Results.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...rate-cut-again

Airbus HAD hoped to make 200 neos this year and made 94 of them in H1

Of the 94 built in H1 59 are delivered and the other 35 are sitting around waiting for Pratt Engines.

Airbus CEO Enders said "“There are just too many maturity issues on this engine” and offered no opinion on when Pratt might deliver permanent fixes. Since Pratt told everyone that they were on top of matters yesterday that is quite a statement.

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/ar...o-2017-439687/

Quote:
In June, P&W disclosed that a "quality escape" by a supplier had halted deliveries of the PW1100G engine model to Airbus for a few weeks. The manufacturer has not provided details of the reason for the quality lapse.

Despite the setback, P&W built nearly 140 PW1100Gs during the first half of the year, meaning the company needs to deliver at least 210 engines in the second half of the year to meet P&W's minimum delivery range.
However if they built 140 engines ( and that for 70 planes) in H1 2017 then how come Airbus only delivered 20 P&W neos in that time ( only 1 in each of April and May to Indigo in both cases and a measly 1 in June and 2 in July) and with another 35 lying engineless around the Airbus factories.

Someone is lying, I'll bet the engines are still in P&W torn down awaiting replacement parts for dodgy components.
