Korean Air to operate Incheon-Jeju route
http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news...17_105975.html

Quote:
Korean Air has decided to operate an Incheon-Jeju route from March 25, a move expected to boost the number of foreign visitors to the countrys southern resort island.

It said Wednesday that it will operate a daily flight between Incheon International Airport and Jeju International Airport to better serve a growing number of Chinese and other non-Korean tourists who want to visit Jeju Island.

Korean Airs B737-800 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 150 passengers, will depart from Jeju airport at 5 p.m. every day and arrive in Incheon at 6:05 p.m. The returning flight will take off from Incheon at 7:05 p.m. and arrive in Jeju at 8:10 p.m.

Currently, foreign visitors who enter Korea via Incheon airport have to go to Gimpo airport in western Seoul, which takes about half an hour by car or train, and transfer to domestic flights departing for Jeju and other local cities.

It is also the same for those who leave the country after visiting the island. They first have to fly to Gimpo airport from Jeju and then transfer to Incheon airport.

More flights open between China's Qingdao and ROK's Busan

QINGDAO, March 19 (Xinhua) -- The number of weekly flights between the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao and Busan, the Republic of Korea (ROK), has been increased to meet growing demand, Qingdao airport authorities said Monday.

Air Busan launched a new air service Monday, which will see a direct flight operating daily between the two cities, a spokesman with the Qingdao Liuting International Airport said.

That brings the total number of flights between Qingdao and Busan to 10 per week, up from three, the spokesman said.

"The opening of more flights will further facilitate trips between the two countries for business people and tourists," he said.

Breaking News
Global BC

Korean Airlines flight KE72, bound for Seoul, was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Comox military base on Tuesday afternoon.

The Boeing 777 took off from YVR at 2:35 p.m. but had to land at 19 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Comox at 5:30 p.m. for an unknown reason. The Royal Canadian Air Force said 19 Wing personnel are responding to an "in-flight emergency."

There are 149 people on board, and officials at YVR said everyone is safe.

"Wing emergency personnel are responding to the location and are securing the aircraft in accordance with normal procedures," said the RCAF. "All emergency services on the Wing have been activated."

Reports stated that a fighter jet from the military base escorted the airline in due to a possible threat on board.

We will update this post when more information becomes available.

Jin Air will launch regular flights to Yantai in Shandong Province, China from July 5, the company said on Wednesday. The route between Incheon and Yantai is the airline's 11th international flight.

The budget airline will operate a B737-800 with 183 seats on the route four times a week on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Jin Air is offering round-trip tickets from W99,000 (US$1=W1,173) to celebrate the launch. The airfare does not include a fuel surcharge or tax, both of which must be added. Tickets can be purchased at the airlines website.

Kyiv makes sense actually, Korean investment in Ukraine is rather large, I believe.

Once KE gets 787 it should be considered.

Indeed yes. However, it will take, I believe, another two years for Boeing to deliver 787-9.
Moreover, a lot of pax from Ukraine to Asia already connecting via Incheon.(e.g. KBP-SVO-ICN-NRT), thus it will be nice to have a direct flight.
