Thanks for the pix. I believe those are the ones that are installed in 777-200ER's. The 777-300ER, newer planes and planes scheduled to be retrofitted will have Thales IFE, so the monitors and remotes will look slightly different from the pictures above which have Panasonic IFE. And the new seats on 777-300ER have USB ports for personal devices (ipods, cameras, etc.)

Just found a picture on sqtalk actually....

Korean Air launches new flights to Japan

Korean Air has launched new flights to Japan from its base in Seoul, which could prove useful for people planning to go travelling in Asia this year.

The carrier began operating flights to Mount Fuji Shizuoka airport, a new hub in central Japan, from Seoul Incheon yesterday (4 June).

Daily services will be available on the new route, which is being operated by a Boeing 737 offering capacity for 187 passengers.

Korean Air said that its new flights will provide travellers with a 'hassle-free' experience and offer convenient access to tourist attractions in central Japan such as Mount Fuji, Hamana Lake and the historic hot springs.

The service is also expected to prove useful for business customers heading to the commercial centres of Tokyo and Nagoya.

Korean Air now serves a total of 15 destinations in Japan, with Shizuoka joining cities such as Osaka, Sapporo and Nagasaki in the airline's network.

Other Asian destinations served by Korean Air from its hub in Seoul include Beijing and Guangzhou in China, Hanoi in Vietnam and Manila in the Philippines.

Korean air carriers records lowest delay and cancellation

Beginning 2005 aircraft manufacturers have been doing an annual study of airlines operating more than 5,000 flights a year for their aircraft maintenance related flight delays (15 minutes or longer) and cancellations.

According to the 2008 reports released by Boeing and Airbus, Korean air carriers recorded the lowest rates of delays and cancellations caused by aircraft maintenance.

Korean Air beat out all other airlines in four of the five aircraft types in service by the airline and came in 2nd place for the fifth aircraft type.

The four aircraft types are B737-800 (147 seats)/900 (188 seats), A300-600 (276 seats), B777 (376 seats), and B747-400 (384 seats). The fifth that recorded 2nd place is the A330 (296 seats).

Asiana Airlines also proved its capability ranking 1st place for one (A330, 290 seats) of the six aircraft types operated by Asiana and coming in among the top five for the remaining aircraft types. Asiana ranked 2nd for B737-400 (130 seats)/500 (162 seats), 3rd for B767 (260 seats) and B747-400 (359 seats), 4th for B777 (300 seats), and 5th place for A320 (146seats)/321 (200 seats).

Such outstanding records show that aircraft maintenance related delays and cancellations were further reduced from 2007 and are evidence that Korean air carriers' aircraft maintenance and safety management are world-class.

Incident: Korean B773 at Tokyo on Jul 13th 2009, tail strikes on landing

By Simon Hradecky, created Monday, Jul 13th 2009 16:02Z, last updated Monday, Jul 13th 2009 16:02Z

A Korean Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration HL7532 performing flight KE-703 from Seoul Incheon (South Korea) to Tokyo Narita (Japan) with 387 people on board, struck its tail twice onto the runway about 7 seconds after the main gear touched down on Narita's runway 16R. The airplane rolled out safely, was checked out by emergency services and taxied to the gate. No injuries occured.

The landing and attitude appeared normal initially, but about 4 seconds after touch down the nose rose significantly resulting in two tail strikes. The damage is unclear, reports in South Korea speak of damage to the tail skid assembly only.

Narita's main runway 16R/34L (length 4000 meters/13100 feet) was closed for about 80 minutes leaving only the secondary runway 16L/34R (length 2180 meters/7150 feet) available.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 had to perform the return flight KE-704 with a delay of 5.5 hours.
