Does anyone know when the Performing Arts Centre by Zaha Hadid is due to start the construction? Or is that finally cancelled?

Both the Hadid and Gehry buildings are still supposed to be built. Whether or not they actually will be, remains to be seen.

It's quite strange, when a country that doesn't churn out cultural commodities of any relevance, is pretending to be a cultural hub by building some starchitect buildings and buying expensive collections. But yeah, good luck with that. Just saying: Money really can't buy you everything.

Though I have to say at least they are attempting something in cultural regards, in contrast to most other Arab countries nowadays.

I just think it's ironic that for all the negative and hateful anti West / America/ JEWISH / retric you hear all through the middle East we see a middle eastern state creating a hub of culture financed from revenue from the west to be housed in a institute founded by a American Jew to house artwork from the eedt and it all being marketed as AbuDhabi's cultural hub.
How much of actual content that was/is conceived born developed engined originated from the middle East? Zaha Hadid (RIP) doesn't count as she was taught by western influences and hers is a British company

So according to your logic the entire Middle East is like a Borg Collective from Star Trek where every single person has the exact same thoughts, opinions, views, values and priorities?

You sound like someone who has never travelled to the Middle East. Transits at DXB don't count.

My remarks may have come accross as contrite but i was asking this as i have traveled through much of the Islamic World Nth Africa SE Asia and the Sub Continent, but as for the Middle East ive been to Israel and Kuwait Oman UAE and Jordan ,and can i say that Jordanians and Muscat held up their own cultural heritage up and above imported culture, you notice that in the locals having a true since of their own identity.
And its this observation of the new cities being buiilt in cashed up states that they are souless and lacking any character or any true integrity. .
Maybe in 100 years when the rough edges have been modified to suit the local environment will the fruits of this lobour will ripen
But currently it looks like a case of one up.manship, a Louvre that out Louvres the Louvre , a Guggenheim that out Guggenheims the Guggenheim , a skyscrapper that towers over all skyscrappers .
