Except other airports grow as well. Porto Alegre, for instance:

2009 --- 14%
2010 --- 19%
2011 --- 17%
2012 ---- 7%

Regional aviation will have a big bump on Rio Grande do Sul state in 2014 with Azul cracking into that market. That will surely have an impact on POA.

update of busiest airports 2013 (first 1000 airports but not a complete list!)

still missing statistics from about 400 airports (mostly Australia, China, Indonesia and USA) that counts almost 1 bilion extra passengers

How many of you here know about WheelTug Tehcnology??? WheelTug are installed inside the two front nose wheels of the aircraft, enables an aircraft to taxi and provides movement in forward and reverse directions at a speed of up to 25mph without turning on the engines and it could save nearly 100,000 gallons of fuel per year

Ryanair plans €10 flights to the US when service launches

Aideen Sheehan Consumer Correspondent– Updated 25 February 2014 07:16 PM

RYANAIR will sell €10 flights to the US when it finally manages to get the long haul aircraft needed, airline chief Michael O'Leary said today.

The airline has a business plan ready for launching transatlantic flights but admits it will be several years before it can get the planes needed.

Mr O'Leary told the Irish Hotels Federation conference in Meath that Ryanair would offer €10 flights to the United States and US$10 flights from the US to Europe, though passengers would pay extra for everything from meals to baggage.

The flights would operate from 12-14 major European cities to 12-14 major US destinations and a full service would begin within six months of Ryanair getting the aircraft to do so.

However it would be four to five years before this happened as currently the Gulf state airlines are buying up all available aircraft.

Mr O'Leary praised the Irish government for scrapping the travel tax to Ireland from April 1st as the single biggest step to boosting tourism to Ireland since it came into power.

He said Ryanair would deliver an extra 1m passengers to Ireland as a result creating an extra €300m in tax revenue to the government through increased tourism spending.

But he urged Transport Minister Leo Varadkar to sell off Irish airports to make them more efficient as had been done in most European countries.

Mr Varadkar hinted that privatising airport terminals while maintaining government ownership of the runways and ground areas could be an option, noting this was an option favoured in the US.

Bubbalo, could you organize a list with the Top 100 busiest air spaces based on those figures?

I believe he was asking for busiest metropolitan areas in terms of air traffic. That would mean, for example, counting JFK, LGA and EWR as one.

Thank you, bubbalo! I'll be waiting for the Top 100 list.

London is very impressive. Even without a domestic market, it managed to beat New York by a large margin. It's really world's crossroads.

About São Paulo, if you really want to get in details, you might add airports of the DAESP system, like Bragança Paulista, Campinas-Amarais, Jundiaí, Sorocaba. It will add extra 150,000 pax. BTW, figures for January 2014 were already released, with GRU growing 16.8%, CGH 13.5%, and VCP 2.2%. São Paulo terminal might cross the 70 million pax by the end of the year.

The world's longest aircraft, HAV304, has been unveiled at a hangar in Cardington, Bedfordshire, UK. The 113ft-wide aircraft, known as HAV304, was originally developed for the US military, and was later abandoned due to budget issues.

B747-8i vs. A380 - which do you choose, the Queen of the Skies (747-8i) or the Super Jumbo (380)
