"São Luís do Maranhão est une ville du Brésil et la capitale de l'État du Maranhão. Elle est située sur l'île de même nom (Upaon-açu selon l'ancien nom donné par les indiens Tupinambas qui peuplaient la contrée, ce qui signifie « grande île »), entre les baies de São Marcos et de São José de Ribamar. Sa population s'élevait à 978 824 habitants en juillet 20051. La population de la région métropolitaine était alors de 1 227 659 habitants (dont 130 448 pour São José de Ribamar et 97 689 pour Paço do Lumiar)
Le centre historique de São Luís a été inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l'Humanité en 19972.


São Luis est la seule capitale d'État du Brésil qui n'ait pas été fondée par les Portugais et dont le nom soit d'origine française. La ville fut en effet fondée sous le nom de « Saint-Louis »3, son nom français, le 8 septembre 1612 par le Français Daniel de la Touche, connu en tant que seigneur de la Ravardière, qui lui donna ce nom en l'honneur du jeune roi Louis XIII, souverain de l'époque."

Wonderful .. I always liked Brazil

My parents made a trip to Morocco two years ago. I saw the photos. A wonderful country.

There is a detail that links my home town to Morocco. We call it the "azulejo" (tile). Here the climate is hot and humid. As a protection against heat and humidity, the Portuguese covered the facades of the houses with tiles.

Morocco , Portugal and Brazil have a lot of aspects in common . "Azulejo" is quite similar to "Zelij" which is used for calling tiles in Morocco .

About the instrument shown above , we have exactly the same :D
