Yeah, I think it is very funny to see a city in a building boom. Bangkok in the whole 80's barely had any highrises. Maybe 2-5 highrises totally, then came the building boom and wops, over 2-3000 highrises. Same with Dubai, Dubai was just a desert in the past, now look at it.

Hanoi's current CBD is located around Hoankiem lake. It is very different from other Asian CBDs which look more modern rather than romantic. The Turtle Tower in the middle of the lake is also the landmark of Hanoi. However, a new CBD in the westside with high-rises is taking shape. I hope it will turn out nice and as characteristic as the current CBD.

Even if China is now becoming the fastest growing economy and is now no.2, it is still a developing country. It is still far to reach the developed status of countries say United States, Japan, countries in Western Europe and even New Zealand.
