The prices at KFC Kenya are crazy I just converted them into my local currency and it costs twice as much . I really hope they re adjust the prices just so that the franchise does well in the country

After Nairobi. The next KFC outlets are set to open in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Nanyuki.

this in the end might end up being good for the consumer
I hope that was a tongue in cheek comment. Fast food chains 'raising their game' can never be construed as a good thing. Last time KFC and it's competitors did that collectively America got fat. Going by the fact that Africans are more susceptible to weight related diseases like cardiac problems & diabetes, people should be running the other way.

portion size, frequency, and ingredients are the key. I don't think KFC Kenya, or any other international fast food in Kenya, will give the same portion sizes as they do in America.

Also, as long as Kenyans aren't eating KFC like once or more a week they should be fine. Once every few weeks or month isn't a problem.

Lastly ingredients used in their food. Preservatives and all that other crap in American fast food is . I'm sure KFC will tune its menu to local taste meaning you shouldn't get all of those chemicals and instead more natural ingredients unlike we do, so KFC Kenya should be OK mostly.

Making fast food a staple diet + car dependency are the catalysts for an obese/overweight society. So long fast food remains a luxury and exercise/walking isn't completely stopped as people can afford cars then I don't think Kenyans will be anymore subtle to weight-dependent diseases you mentioned.

Africa is on a verge of an obesity epidemic. It seems laughable now but watch this space.

That better not happen. Poor and obese are not good aspects to have.

American or other foreign fast food chains are the least of Kenyan's worries when it comes to obesity. Its actually the local fast food chains that should worry Kenyans...the Kenchic's, Mc Fry's that the average urban Kenyan office worker rushes to over lunch hour that should be the cause for worry. They are numerous and far cheaper than any of these foreign chains and they sell the same staple french frys and greasy chicken.

Fast foods are not considered a luxury in a broad segment of the middle class and cases of obesity and other related diseases like diabetes, cardiovascular conditions are on the rise in Kenya.

Kenya should have a national exercise day, week, or month.

Bye bye to women this size I suppose (sidenote: this girl has on way too much make-up.)

Recently, I have heard of people in Kenya, mainly family and friends getting diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholestrol, diabetes etc...Now they introduce this?

Kenyans were/are healthy because of the diet they have but things are taking a different turn with the introduction of this fast food joints.

That being said... I F**ING love KFC chicken.

Welcome to modernization: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high obesity rate, high everything!

KFC is good, but the key is to eat in in moderation, not like everyday or more than once a week. One in a while won't kill you.

Trust me, it is really bad, I have a doctor in my family. That plus cancer are issues that should be seriously addressed by health officials before things get out of control.
