agreed! It gives the park much needed hight and adds a bit of drama and quirkyness to the mix too. The colour is a nice contrast to the white steel of the Stadium and wings of the Aquatics centre. Ok the design is a bit of a scribble but its a fun sculputre that is usable and functional but may one day be a regional landmark and something to be proud of. I mean not very often do we see something quite as experimental as this!

That's a little too extreme. I would say "unique". I am not jumping up and down with this design either. This is one artwork I'm on the fence. As much as I love contemporary art and own a collection myself, this one requires a lot of study. In the end, the artist succeeded because we are talking about it, whether it's bad or it's good.

I mean like WTF? This almost looks like some sort of joke... The design is so messy you dont know where to look. Huge thumbs down for this.

Actually, that's a rather good point Eco.

I suppose though, that the "messiness" of the Beijing structure is contained within a known form; the shape of a stadium, where as the "messiness" of this tower has nothing constraining it but the artist's imagination (and of course the need to make it into some form of viewing tower). It's therefore more unsettling to look at despite it being equally as messy as the Bird's Best. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is questionable.

I'd agree that the birds nest is mess within a structure, but that this is structure within a mess. It's the actual shape of it that is the mess rather than it's well arranged constitute parts.

This is one is ugly until it proves to be a good tourist attraction and brings lots of revenue. If that happens everyone will say 'it's not that bad after all', like what has happened with many controversial projects around the world.

I like this tower, but this has got to be one of the lamest arguments used by modern art lovers today. If given the opportunity and money 100% of the world´s population could come up with something that people would talk about for a long time. I mean as an architect I could construct a giant tower shaped like a turd in central Helsinki and it would be talked about for the rest of my life. But this idea cost me five seconds and is not artistic in any way.
