wow indeed even that little bit makes quite an impression and these are only photos. I imagine seeing this in the flesh will be quite an experience once its complete and it should make for some amazing photos given the different perspectives it will create.

I mean as an architect I could construct a giant tower shaped like a turd in central Helsinki and it would be talked about for the rest of my life. But this idea cost me five seconds and is not artistic in any way.
I like to tackle the idea that this was an honest attempt to create an artsy eye candy by the artist. He did not expect an instant love affair but rather critiqued in a similar fashion as his twisty concept. He must have self- debated and considered the biases and assumptions of the common rhetoric and hope to discover the proper place for his artistic talent in relation to a functional design versus this piece. I'm sure he is aware of the tendency among designers to view aesthetic dressing as something inferior to a function-based design.

I consider art being the practice of creating something attractive as an end in itself and design being the arrangement and styling of some form of communication or interface. A giant scat would not fall on either and certainly invites a talk, I agree, not necessarily an intelligent discussion.

I'm happy to report I've pretty much finished my Google Earth Model of the completed tower. Here's the link to the model http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehou...f88291d2e1580c

The whole 'octopus' structure is either really easy or an engineer's nightmare.

it is the typical structure that impresses only on renders .

When coming to reality it is a total disapointment

I reckon it's best to reserve judgement until the tower's completed. You might be right but let's see......

Being 115 metres high, I doubt it won't impress quite a bit. It will be taller than anything around it.
