Another Space Needle clone, but a decent classy version, (not something cheap like the Calgary or Tower of the Americas) would have been far nicer, but ho hum, this is what we have.

Agreed.

I really don't like the fact that our joke of a mayor compared this to the beautiful Eiffel Tower - but in its own right I do find the Orbit something refreshing and quirky. If only it were taller and a lot more elegant then I'd be happier, but for what it is...

I've tried to find something to like about it but failed. It's just plain ugly.

Thankfully London has many other marvelous landmarks to compensate

What does this building represent? Is there an underlying vision or meaning we should know about to understand its shape?

The loops in the steal are supposed to represent the Olympic rings. Not very obvious though is it!

It's not pretty, but it is unusual, and that's a good thing.

It is, after all, a pretty useless building other than being an observation tower. There are plenty of pretty ordinary observation towers out there, so it's good that this is a bit different. And if you look at it and wonder if the architect was either on drugs, or maybe he'd build it out of plasticine first, and it partially melted, then so be it.

Different is defiantly a good thing, why design something that looks like everything else. Even now it's hard to say how the tower will look when finished as the observational level isn't complete. The black safety cages that envelop it will be taken away, thus leaving new shinny cladding, hopefully .
