Look up 'Watkin's Folly' too

We tried to build a Tour Eiffel copy at Wembley, on the current site of Wembley Stadium. It was, of course, to be taller than the Parisian version (358m)... Trouble is, it never got any bigger than this and was eventually demolished by 1907:

Sir Edward Watkin was a railway magnate (Metropolitan and Great Central), and as an aside my Great-Grandfather was his Butler.

I love the story of Watkins Folly. Would have been amazing if he had managed to complete it. Apparently when they were rebuilding Wembley Stadium, the footings of the tower were uncovered while digging the foundations for the new stadium. Sorry for going off topic.

Avoid upsetting your Brit freinds, if it's going to start an arguement?

I think it will be fine, we all realise it's not as nice as Eiffel Tower!!

What he meant was that last week you couldn't see anything, earlier this week you could see a few bars and now quite a bit of the framework, So a lot in one week really.

Sorry if you weren't being sarcastic, it's rather hard to tell sarcasm over the internet at times.

I didn’t expect work to start so soon. I love this sculpture. Because it’s a unconventional shape, I believe It’s going to take people by surprise .

I like it, its dramatic and dynamic. I love Kapoor's body of work, one of the best british sculptors.

A very futuristic roller coaster sculpture in London. A modern design indeed to show the Brits.
