Indore is the economic hub of MP and is the poorest in terms of rail connectivity.
I hope the doubling and electrification between Ujjain and Indore is completed ASAP

Till the electrification of the section takes place, they can work fast on the airport. When is the new terminal going to open? And what about the gauge conversion of Ratlam-Akola MG line?

Karnataka: State wants 18 new trains
TNN, Jan 30, 2011, 04.59am IST BANGALORE: The Union railway ministry is gearing up to prepare the budget for 2011-12 and Karnataka has put forth its demand for 18 new trains to be included in the plan. The state has also decided to take up the issue of including the long-pending demand for direct rail connectivity between Hyderabad-Karanatak and Mumbai-karnatak regions in the coming fiscal plan. In a letter to railway ministers Mamta Baneerjee and K H Muniyappa, BJP leader V Dhananjaya Kumar, special representative of Karnataka in New Delhi, has requested to arrange for a meeting of railway board members in the first week of February to discuss pending and new railway projects to be included in the railway budget. "Karnataka MPs would also exert pressure on the Centre to get the state's due in railway development, particularly in neglected regions,'' he said. The state has proposed 18 new mail and express trains for the Bangalore-Delhi Durranto, Yeshwantpur-Shirdi, Yeshwantpur-Sholapur, Karwar-Mangalore-Bangalore, Yeshwantpur-Amritsar, Gulbarga-Bangalore, Mysore-Arsikere, Marikuppam-Bangalore, Kolar-Bangalore, Bangalore-Bagalkot-Bijapur, Bangalore-Belgaum-Miraj, Shimoga-Harihara, Whitefield-Kolar, Davangere-Tumkur, Gadag-Haveri, Bijapur-Shahabad, Dharwad-Belgaum and Hassan-Bangalore routes. It has also requested to take up a survey on the Bangalkot-Raichur, Gulbarga-Bijapur and Koppal-Singanur lines. Kumar added that the government has already set aside its share of Rs 600 crore to take up new projects, including those on the Bidar-Gulbarga, Munirabad-Mehboobnagar, Rayadurga-Tumkur and Kadur-Chikmagalur-Sakleshpur lines. Rly budget likely to decide fate of several projects in state
The railway budget for 2011-2012 fiscal to be presented in the Lok Sabha next month is likely to decide fate of several railway projects sanctioned for Bihar. Since 2002 onwards, the East Central Railway (ECR ) has always got a rich haul in the budget due to the fact that the railway minister used to hail from Bihar. At present, railway projects worth about Rs 55,000 crore are being executed in Bihar. According to sources , railway minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to give priority to safety and modernisation work in the railways . Cleanliness, quality food supply at reasonable price and punctuality of mail and express trains may get importance in her proposed budget . Besides, Mamata may provide special funds for carrying out safety-oriented programmes , sources said. The public-private partnership (PPP) ventures, which were earlier not given priority, may get importance in the budget. Since Mamata would not prefer to carry out many expensive railway projects proposed in Bihar at railway s own expenses , the PPP proposals could gain ground in the proposed budget for the fast completion of these projects in Bihar, including locomotive manufacturing factories at Marhaura in Saran district and Madhepura. The early completion of eastern freight corridor from Kolkata to Ludhiana , passenger amenities and review of many passenger-related projects are likely to be the focal point in the ensuing budget. Hike in the upper class and second class fare is ruled out this time too. However, there is enormous pressure on the railway minister from the Planning Commission and finance ministry to hike marginally fare which has not been increased during the past five to six years, sources said. From Bihar s perspective, the ECR has proposed to run a direct superfast train between Patna and Tiruvanthapuram (Trivandrum ) and a Duronto train between Patna and New Delhi or Patna and Lucknow. CM Nitish Kumar has also urged Mamata to give a Duronto train to Bihar, sources said. The budget is likely to give green signal to the proposed new trains like Sitamarhi-Delhi Garib Rath , Darbhanga-Jammu Garib Rath and Saharsa-Delhi Express. That apart, the budget may consider increasing frequency of Patna-Ahmedabad , Patna-Secunderabad , Patna-Ajmer , Patna-Ahmedabad, Darbhanga- Bangalore Express and extension of Patna-Mathura up to Kota, sources said. The budget will also decide fate of many ambitious projects which are being executed in Bihar. Much will depend on allotment of funds in the budget , said an ECR official. TNN |

What about MMTS phase 2 mahn!! This local trains are in much demand & cant understand y dey r ignoring it dis project!! It can be implemented in just 2 yrs & save loads of money & provide alternate means of traffic for hyderabad!!!! It seems only railway minister from AP will do justice to dis project... Get ready to see Bengal & Karnataka railway budgets dis year rather than Indian railway budget!!!

MMTS Phase-I is not very popular among the people who live in inner city but very popular among people living in suburban areas like L'palli, H'pet, Chanda Nagar and some stations like F'numa, Malakpet, Y'pura, D'pura, H'city, Begumpet are very busy(not including n'pally and KCG). But Phase-II includes several crucial links to Patancheru, Airport, Medchal, Ghatkesar which will definitely receive much patronage

Unlike the suburban lines in Mum, Chn and Kol, the Hyd MMTS doesn't have dedicated tracks for a long distance. This can affect the scalability of this system in the long run. Since Metro will anyway have a dedicated system of lines, its better to go for Metro than bank of MMTS for max coverage and long term planning.

Even if there arent dedicated corridors it does not affect much as the frequency is not that high for MMTS.
Several of the corridors to be taken in the Phase-II are to have dedicated tracks: * Tellapur-Patancheru (track restoration & electrification) * Umdanagar-Airport (new track laying) * Moula Ali-Malkajgiri-Sitaphalmandi (doubling of chord line) * Sanathnagar-Moula Ali (doubling & electrification) * Bolaram-Medchal (doubling & electrification) |

Hope this budget should cater to all the states evenly and not bengal centric. I am disappointed to see in every budget that konkan areas are neglected. Most of the express trains that are announced each year will be over night. Passenger trains reach to most of the common man's needs. Rail minister should announce some long route passenger/fast passenger trains in budget.
1. Kanyakumari - Vasco Fast Passenger 2. Kanyakumari - Tirupathi Fast Passenger 3. Mangalore - Hubli Passenger 4. Chennai - Nanded Fast Passenger 5. Bangalore - Tenkasi Passenger 6. Quilon - Pune Passenger All these trains should depart during day time. It helps lot of poor people who travel on longer routes or not able to bear the express fares. I also hope that there is a need of day time fast passenger between Bangalore & Thanjavur. After bangalore - salem passenger [7:15 am], there is a need of another train in hosur route. Thanks & Regards SRIRAM GS |

mysore-kushalnagar-mangalore feasibility study was proposed in last budget. they should start mysore-kushalnagar 88km track now. coorg district has no railway connectivity at all. but kushalnagar-mangalore not required as it is thick forest and parallel track sakleshpur-mangalore is very closeby.
