One of the most idiotic decisions of IR is not having a superfast train between Bangalore and Mumbai. The current ones take 24 hours (20 hours to Pune).

The great thing in IR is AndhraPradesh doesn't have a Shatabdi train.. IR can introduce Shatabhi between SC-VJA OR SC-RAJAMUNDRY OR SC-NAGPUR OR SC-PUNE OR SC-GNTR-ONGOLE.
Even smalll states in North India (Not NorthEast) has Shatabhi, But such a big state Ap doesn't have Shatabdi..

what IR doesnt think is the revenue it can earn and the comfort it can provide.... all it insists is Low cost Low cost and Low cost....
BENIFICIAL to BOTH: IR as well as passengers is: 1. more AC intercity trains. NOT duranto. NOT shatabdi. daily trains. ideal combos include: pune-sc pune-st hyb-rjy klk-cdg-ldh-asr-jat ljn-cnb-ald-bsb pnbe-rnc mas-mdu-ten mas-pdy brc-bct jat-asr-bte rou-Raipur (R) ngp-bpl-indb adi-rjt-okha brc-adi-ju-jp ljn-aii Next: As i always stress, DOUBLING (and not electrification) is a sign of development. foll sectors for doubling: pune-chennai mas-cbe mas-mdu del-jp-ju del-jp-aii mldt-ghy Next: modernisation of workshops and rail coach factories and NOT adding more and more w/s's Next: increase in section speed of: section/ MPS speed in kmph mumbai-delhi 150 delhi-agra 200 delhi-jaipur 160 delhi-asr jat 160 delhi-cdg, ddn: 120 pnbe-mgs 130 dee-kolkata 150 kolkata-ghy 120 agra-bhopal 150 bhopal-ngp 120 ngp-chennai 120 mumbai-kolkata via nagpur 140 KR 150 mumbai-ahmdbad 140 mum-pune 130 |

Pune - City's little India seeks more trains
PUNE: In almost every season of the Railway Budget, announcements for new trains from Pune have generally been given the go-by resulting in all-round disappointment. However, with another Budget around the corner, hope rises yet again in Puneites. Trains are the most efficient and economical mode of transport for a vast majority. Moreover, Pune has people from several states working here who wanting better connectivity to their native places across the country. Besides new trains, several railway commuters' groups are also hoping for improvement in amenities and infrastructure from the budget. In its list of suggestions and demands sent to the railway ministry, the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture has asked for improving rail connectivity to almost all major destinations in the country. "Pune is an important city and therefore there is need to improve rail connectivity," Anant Sardeshmukh, director-general of MCCIA said here on Wednesday. The MCCIA, which has a separate committee on railway and road traffic management, has demanded that besides new trains, all holiday special trains to stations like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad should be converted into regular trains. The MCCIA has also suggested that trains which run once or twice a week should run daily. Chairman of the committee, Chandmal Parmar said that there is a need for superfast trains originating from Pune to Bangalore, Hubli, Chennai, Mangalore and Goa. "Commuters for Delhi are depending exclusively on Jhelum and Goa-Nizamuddin express trains, which are inadequate to cater to the growing demand from passengers. The journey's time duration is abnormally high, even as passenger traffic to Delhi is increasing every day. The Duronto train to Delhi should run every day instead of twice a week," he said. The MCCIA has also demanded new trains to Shirdi, Kolhapur, Latur, and Amravati in Maharashtra. To reduce the burden on the Karjat-Kalyan-Dadar section, the committee has suggested that the Karjat-Panvel route be used effectively. The panel also highlighted the need for intercity trains to Mumbai between 10 and 11.30 am and between 7 and 7.30 pm. Chairperson of the Railway Users' Group, Harsha Shah said that the present trains up to Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Ernakulam (via Panvel), Indore, Jodhpur, and Lucknow should run daily as should both the Duronto trains to Howrah and Delhi. Trains from Pune to Bangalore and Chennai were needed and upgrading infrastructure facilities for the future would help, she added. President of the Chinchwad Pravasi Sangh Gulamali Bhaldar said that the Railways proposal for a new line between Chinchwad to Roha in the Konkan should be explored. He added that more trains should halt in Pimpri-Chinchwad which would reduce the burden at Pune station and it will be of convenience to the passengers. Officials said that all demands made by railway users groups are forwarded to the Central Railway office which sends it to the railway board Read more: City's little India seeks more trains - The Times of India http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...#ixzz1CvF0WARa |

![]() chennai-coimbatore not allowing boarding at salem (Lolz) amritsar-chandigarh not allowing boarding at ludhiyana (Lolz) U cant have a train nonstop pune-hyderabad not stopping at solapur. Ive given all above combinations wrt such cities (tier 2/3) which also have many imp cities in between them. And u say fear of theft?? travel by trains like trivendrum rajdhani. the keepers demand tip per delivery of bedding. they literally beg (with dish).... duranto is good for longer connectivity, taking 10 hrs+.... not for intercity and it doesnt give FLIGHT LIKE EXPERIENCE. these trains DO STOP for technical reasons.... u know, u cant make a loco pilot run a train nonstop for 43 hrs (NZM-ERS duranto) these trains stop at intermediate stations just as other trains. the only thing is u wont get a ticket from/to intermediate stations. people come to sell stuff also, co-passengers who wish to pay for entire journey can also get down (for nzm0pune duranto has technical stop at vasai road, people who wish to go to mumbai pay for delhi-pune run and hop off at vasai road, (do u know this option is cheaper than rajdhani by 50 rs?) and Plz,, electrification doesnt help mother earth :P 33% transmission losses. no electricity in homes and u want eletricity to run trains passing by these homes? people would steal elec from OHE wires then. whatever dust and pollution u create in a diesel engine, ull create it at the thermal power plant which supplies elec. plus add the losses overall energy reqd/km run for diesel is high agreed (consider right from production to burning of diesel), but its cheaper (subsidized rate for IR), more viable, versatile.... BUT BUT, even if you can maintain a decent schedule with a single line and say 8 crossings per 500 km, u lose hell lots of energy and time decelerating and accelerating. (exactly same situation at delhi-jaipur, bhigwan-solapur-hyderabad,chennai; chennai-madurai. AND HENCE doubling imp than electrifcn Plz think before u post

Chamber seeks hourly Pune-Mumbai trains Pune:Ahead of the Railway Budget on February 24, the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) has drawn the attention of the Railway Ministry to various ssues in the Pune division, such as better connectivity between a number of cities and regions including Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Konkan, southern as well as northern states. MCCIA executive-director general Anant Sardeshmukh and chairman of MCCIA's railway, road traffic management committee Chandmal Parmar highlighted various demands like improving the railway stations and providing adequate toilet and drinking water facilities at the stations. “Introduction of hourly trains between Pune and Mumbai will benefit thousands of commuters and generate substantial revenue for the railways. Owing to the non-availability of train service during certain period of the day, commuters are forced to opt for road transport. It is therefore, requested that the railways can introduce super-fast trains starting from both ends between 10 am and 11.30 am; between 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm; and between 7 pm and 7.30 pm respectively,” Parmar said. “Presently, very few trains are available from Pune to the southern parts of India. Moreover, these trains initiate from Mumbai and hence the quota available for Pune is limited. T herefore trains to Bangalore, Hubli, Chennai and Mangalore are the need of the hour.” he said adding, “ Apart from this, the volume of passenger traffic to and from Gujarat and Rajasthan is very high and is growing faster than the capacity of existing services. Therefore, introduction of superfast trains to Ahmedabad and Rajkot are necessary. “The entire Konkan region, which is a major centre of agro-horticultural products, is a major tourist attraction and needs proper connectivity with the rest of the state. Therefore, superfast trains to Ratnagiri and Madgaon (Goa) should be introduced,” he said. There is an urgent need to shift the Cement Goods Shed to the convenient places outside the Pune city areas. Shifting of the Goods Shed outside the city limits will reduce the vehicular burden on city roads caused due to the movement of trucks carrying cement. They also questioned the delay in expediting the electrification work between Pune and Daund. |

mas-cbe duranto runs everyday with technical halt at salem. so will amritsar-chandigarh duranto (almost to be launched now) and also howrah-digha (runs daily with 10% occupancy) & howrah-puri duranto (no halt at bhubaneshwar, capital city of orissa) All these are daily durantos, running very much like shatabdis, without allowing people to board at intermediate stations, though these trains halt at intermediate stations... and u wont get a flight like feeling. ![]() and dont salem, ludhiana & bhubaneshwar people deserve an all AC train? people at intermediate stops cant catch a train like that... its not catching a bus by showing ur hand... the quota for intermediate stations is very less. say 1 coach in 10 coaches. applicable for 90% trains of IR. BTW, stealing was an overexaggerated comment |

as for stealing i do feel insecure when train stops in some station and lot of people get down and get in. my sleep is disturbed. as long as co-passengers dont get down or get in, fine with few stops, it is flight like experience for me ![]() dont worry howrah-digha will be cancelled once wb elections over this May and dont the salem, ludhiana & bhubaneshwar people have some other A/C train to catch than duronto? bangalore-delhi duronto is currently weekly train, it will be made daily in around one year future ![]() duronto is start of indian version of high speed rail.. its top speed will be increased gradually to 300kmph and travel time will almost match that of a flight

i have no issues with long distance durantos. they are very much superhit. bhubaneshwar people have only 1 AC coach in daytime to go to howrah. well for amritsar-chandigarh, theres no direct train as of now. people hop off to ambala jn and go to chandigarh. So 2 shatabdis 1 garib rath 12 superfasts and 4 expresses, 2 mails, 1 passenger runs between ambala and amritsar.. salem peolpe dont have any other option but to suffer, being intermediate city. same condition with vadodara. what route does bangalore-delhi duranto take? i think itll be faster via hubli, pune, vadodara (27 hrs) |
