dude dont waste ur effort.. we arent bothered about occupancy etc, they make illogical kochi-delhi ahead of bangalore-delhi due to political reasons. duronto is proven success google it ur self. they should make duronto doors automatically close reducing aero drag and improve fuel efficiency and vibrating comfort.. initially there will be weekly durontos between all major cities, later all will be made daily. we are still waiting for bangalore-mumbai duronto there is already both howra-delhi and sealda-delhi durontos

i m not wasting my time.... this is what i do 90% of the time i spend on internet.... trains trains and more trains..... YOU arent bothered, but the railways are bothered! duranto is success only on special corridors like hwh-pune, hwh mum, sdah-delhi, mum-adi, and nothing much. BTW doors of all trains have to be closed whenever train is in motion (except SLR and GN coaches. for less vibration we need better couplers, lets see how mum-hyd duranto feels... Yeah bang-mum in 17 hrs would be strong competitor to airavat and shivneri. and yea, mum-delhi daily duranto is much needed. mamta introduces 16 coach trains right from beginning, the reason they run empty, whereas laloo introduced 12 coachers initially and IR later extended them to 16 coaches duriong mamtas regime. |

There still are couple of Rajdhanis, a Garib Rath and a few other SFs between Delhi-Mumbai. Bangalore-Mumbai has none. Either IR has failed to notice the growth of Bangalore in the past 20 years, or they have succumbed to the bus lobby.

Railway is a national property and not a state proprty , so the theory does not hold true.

but indian politics goes by states. even mp's are associated with state unit of a party.. they may not even know neighboring mp from another state.. occupancy matters 25% but politics matters 75% in railway decisions

True. In India, there has to mandatory direct train connectivity between all Tier-1 cities and then with major Tier-2 cities across various regions.

More trains to Rajasthan sought
CHENNAI: More than 3,000 people have signed a petition addressed to the Railways urging to introduce more trains to Jaipur and Jodhpur from Chennai. In response to the demand of the community, Central Chennai MP Dayanidhi Maran has recommended to the Railway Ministry to increase frequency of trains between Chennai and Jodhpur. People belonging to Rajasthan who live and do business in Chennai find it difficult to travel to their native place because the existing services from Chennai to Jaipur and Jodhpur are inadequate. Inspite of repeated demands railways is yet to introduce more trains in the sector. Recently, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran wrote to union railways minister Mamta Banerjee demanding more trains between Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. As the railways is not taking notice of the demand, a signature campaign has been launched by international human rights organisation in the city. The organisation has also sought permission from the city police to stage a protest demonstration on Tuesday to highlight their demand. "The waitlist always runs to 200 or more on most of the days. People are finding it difficult to travel to Jaipur or Jodhpur because of the huge demand. Railways will get enough patronage even if they introduce two more trains in the sector," said Ashok Modi, founder of International Human Rights. Dayanidhi Maran, in his a letter to Mamta Banerjee, said: "Chennai-Jodhpur Express should be operated thrice a week." Currently, the train is run only once a week Read more: More trains to Rajasthan sought - The Times of India http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...#ixzz1DHxBhKlF |

The South Western Railway has sought Rs. 1,500 crore for various track-doubling works
The South Western Railway has sought Rs. 1,500 crore for various track-doubling works in its proposal submitted to the Railway Board in the wake of the forthcoming Railway budget.
Chief Public Relations Officer and Deputy General Manager (SWR) P. Shameer Basha told presspersons here on Tuesday that the zone had sought more funds for track-doubling work as the existing railway lines in the zone were overburdened. Mr. Basha said that the two major track-doubling works proposed for the next fiscal were the Hubli-Chikkajajur and Tumkur-Arsikere lines. He said track doubling of the 190-km stretch between Hubli and Chikkajajur would cost Rs. 660 crore and the 96-km railway line between Tumkur and Arsikere would cost Rs. 347 crore. Mr. Basha said track doubling and new projects would help the zone in easing both freight and passenger traffic. He said that the zone had also sought Rs. 250 crore for improvement of traffic facilities and Rs. 120 crore for upgrading of technology. Mr. Basha admitted that development of the Hubli Railway Station had been stopped owing to lack of funds, but clarified that the work had been allotted under maintenance head and was not high on priority compared to other development works. He said the zone had also sought another daily train between Yeshwanthpur and New Delhi, an inter-city train between Guntakal and Hubli. The zone had also asked for bifurcation of Haripriya Express which now connects Kolhapur with Hyderabad and Tirupati, Mr. Basha added. source the hindu |

Delegation to visit Delhi demanding circular train for Bangalore
By Rohith BR | Place: Bangalore | Agency: DNA BJP general-secretary and MP (Bangalore South) Ananth Kumar on Saturday said a delegation of state legislators and MPs would visit New Delhi to demand a circular train project for Bangalore in the upcoming Union railway budget. “It is a long-pending proposal from the state government that we want the railway minister Mamata Banerjee to sanction in the budget. The project needs an allocation of Rs500 crore and will go a long way in de-congesting traffic,” he said. Kumar, who was speaking at a Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) programme in Nagarabavi on Saturday, said the project, along with the Metro, would build the city’s mass transport network. “The legislators’ delegation would also meet the Union minister of state for railways KH Muniyappa,” he said. The circular train network will aim to connect the city with surrounding towns like Anekal, Devanahalli, Doddaballapur, Magadi and Ramanagaram. The project proposal is to have 241 km of railway connectivity. Kumar said that both the Namma Metro and the circular train projects would be assisted with a well-connected network of buses. The state is also demanding fund allocation for a 5,000mw power plant to address the power needs of Bangalore, he added |
