Bicol is no longer an underdog region. I hope you can also include the developments in Legazpi (though it's no longer part of CamSur).

Next to P1.8-B 44-Kilometer San Fernando Bypass Road: Alfelor to undertake construction of nat’l highway from Albay to CamSur
Quote:
...Asked about his priority agenda in Congress once given the mandate anew via the 2013 polls, Alfelor said that he would continue to pursue “an unfinished business of which the implementation will help improve the province’s socioeconomic life thru the completion of various infrastructure projects.”

The former representative of the province’s fifth district was the lead player in the construction of the P1.8 B San Fernando Bypass Road that will straddle a part of Libon town in Albay and the second, third and fifth districts of Camarines Sur.

The 45-kilometer road, which runs from Libon, Albay to Minalabac, Camarines Sur, was constructed and completed during his 9-year term in the House of Representatives from 2001 to 2010.

The Department of Energy is set to award four new renewable energy service contracts that will allow two energy firms to explore and develop prospective geothermal blocks in Luzon.

For signing and awarding are contracts for the Negron-Cuadrado geothermal project in Zambales and Pampanga; Iriga prospect in Albay and Camarines Sur; Mariveles geothermal prospect in Bataan; and the East Mankayan block in Ifugao, Benguet and Mt. Province.

Listed firm Basic Energy Corp. is interested in the three other prospects—the Iriga, Mariveles and East Mankayan geothermal blocks. In September, Basic Energy disclosed to the bourse that it was expecting to secure service contracts to explore these three frontier geothermal concession areas, after it passed the requirements prescribed by the DOE.

In the meantime, the Iriga, Camarines Sur, geothermal area is bounded to the north by the lsarog geothermal block of PNOC Renewables Corp. and to the east by the highly productive Tiwi geothermal service contract area of AP Renewables. The areal landscape is dominated by Iriga or Asog Volcano.

P5-B wind energy farm takes shape in Camarines Sur
Quote:
A wind energy farm is set to rise in Camarines Sur that is expected to generate at least 60 megawatts of electricity and generate green jobs for the province that officials said they hoped to turn into the greenest in the country in terms of energy generation and use.

In a statement, Gov. Luis “LRay” Villafuerte Jr. said the wind energy farm is seen to draw in as much as P5 billion in investments into the province.

The governor said work on the project had started with the putting up of a meteorological tower at the project site.

He said the provincial government had also commissioned a study on green energy production and results are encouraging.

The study points to the availability of sources of biomass energy in the province. These could produce up to 75 MW of electricity from biomass plants and 11 MW from biogas plants, said Villafuerte.

The amount of energy from these sources could more than make up for an increase in power demand in Camarines Sur that is seen to rise to 22 MW until 2018.

Villafuerte said the province had also started putting up a 100-hectare bamboo plantation that would provide fuel for a power plant that could generate up to 25 MW more of electricity. The plantation could expand to 3,000 ha, he said.

Filinvest Development Corp., the holding company of the Gotianun family, plans to sell $200-million to$300-million bonds in the second quarter.

FDC said in a disclosure to the stock exchange it would use proceeds from the bond sale to finance the company’s capital requirements in 2013.

“Issue date is targeted within the second quarter of 2013, subject to the approval of appropriate government agencies,” FDC said.

FDC has investments in property development, banking, sugar milling and power generation.

The company earlier announced plans to invest P25 billion to develop new power plants with a combined capacity of 200 megawatts.

The group is also keen on acquiring power assets slated for privatization, aside from building its own power plants.

FDC initially planned to put up liquefied natural gas power plants with a total capacity of 1,500 MW to 1,800 MW, but decided to use clean coal and develop renewable energy such as from biomass.

The company considers Camarines Sur, Davao, Cebu, Negros and other parts of Mindanao as the sites of the power plant projects.
