Africa Express Airlines is much better though. I haven't flown with Daallo Airlines myself but i've heard they re-launced their service so maybe they've changed some things.

Its when you go the Djibouti - Hargeisa route that you will have a bad ecperience.

More news on the re-establishment of Somali Airlines, capacity building and training:

Dib u dhiska adeega duulimaadyada ee dalka Soomaaliya

Khamiis, Maarso 29, 2012 (HOL) - Ibraahim Abiikar Nuur iyo Axmed Climi Guure oo ka mid ahaa duuliyayaashii Somali Airlines ayaa booqday dugsigii ay ka qalanjibiyeen muddo soddon sanno ka hor. Dugsigaas oo lagu tababaro duuliyayaasha sharikadda Lufthansa laguna magacaabo Lufthanse Airline Training Center ayaa wuxuu ku yaalaa magaalada Phoenix ee dalka Mareykanka.

Madaxa dugsiga Matthias Kippenberg oo horay uga qalinjibiyey isla dugsigaas ayaa halkaas ku soo dhaweeyey duuliyayaasha, wuxuuna warbixin ka siiyey isbeddelka weyn ee uu sameeyey dugsiga mudada soddunka sanno ahayd; isaga oo ku soo wareejiyey qaybaha kala duwan ee uu dugsigu ka kooban yahay

Duuliyayaasha ayaa uga warbixiyey xaaladda uu waddanka Soomaaliya soo maray mudadii 20ka sandood ahayd gaar ahaan sida uu u burburay adeegyadii duulimaadyada ee dalka Soomaaliya. Waxayna u sheegeen in xaaladda Soomaaliya ay hadda soo wanaagsanaaneyso lana soo gaaray xilligii dib loo dhisi lahaa khadadka duulimaadyada ee Soomaaliya.

Madaxa dugsiga Matthias Kippenberg ayaa dhankiisa soo dhaweeyey codsigaas una ballanqaaday in uu kaalmo ka geysandoono intii karaankiisa ah sidii dib loogu dhisilahaa sharikadda Soomaali Airlines.

Sharikaddii Somali Airlines oo ka mid ahayd sharikaddihii ugu firfircoonaa ee Geeska Afrika ayaa khadka ka baxday ka dib markii xukunka laga tuuray dowladdii uu madaxda ka ahaa Maxamed Siyad Barre. Sharikadda Dayuurdaha ee dalka Turkiga ayaa dhawaan duulimaadyo ka bilowda dalka Soomaaliya taas rajo weyn galisay dib u soo celinta dhismaha duulista ee dalka Soomaaliya. Source

I'm guessing this is a private run airline this time around.

When Somali Airlines was operated by successive governments it was the first airline in Africa to have a completely African staff of professionals, and was one of the most widespread carriers from the continent. To reconstruct the entire network to Europe, Middle East and Asia you have to go through political channels, and you need major funds to purchase an expensive fleet, etc. It would be beneficial therefore for the government to have stake in the airlines, similar to the current set up of Kenya Airways.

Interesting times.

Turkey plans Somaliland flight to tighten ties

HARGEISA — A Turkish delegation has visited Hargeisa, the self-declared republic of Somaliland in what it said was to strengthen existing relations by providing technical and social aid.

An international flight by national carrier Turkish Airlines, which started plying the Mogadishu route earlier this month, is also planned, the delegation said. -Source
Another great gesture!

I'm not a fan of the idea of governments having any stake in airlines, that shows favoritism and makes it harder for competition to take place, which could make fares more expensive. In a optimal environment, Somalia would have several choices of what airlines to take. We already have several, imagine if we had a normal situation? Somali airlines is a relic of the days when we had one guy in charge. I'm not against the airline but I'm confident that the airlines wouldn't need government support in the future.

Just my $0.02.

^It's a national symbol, and has great branding potential. The re-establishment is sufficient for now.

I think the old design of Somali Airline needs to go, IMO.. if you want a fresh start, we might as well go for a fresh, new design.. The following link, I think has the most fabulous design, this is just my opinion.

Best Design (credit goes to apetekingdesign for his/her unique design) .. Obviously this is a model design for the Flight Simulator game. Just sharing what I think is a great design.

Absolutely.

I believe the job needs to be taken to a foreign company. If Somali's decide to do it themselves, well... I say lets just keep the old design.
