When Somali Airlines was operated by successive governments it was the first airline in Africa to have a completely African staff of professionals, and was one of the most widespread carriers from the continent. To reconstruct the entire network to Europe, Middle East and Asia you have to go through political channels, and you need major funds to purchase an expensive fleet, etc. It would be beneficial therefore for the government to have stake in the airlines, similar to the current set up of Kenya Airways.

HARGEISA — A Turkish delegation has visited Hargeisa, the self-declared republic of Somaliland in what it said was to strengthen existing relations by providing technical and social aid.

I'm not a fan of the idea of governments having any stake in airlines, that shows favoritism and makes it harder for competition to take place, which could make fares more expensive. In a optimal environment, Somalia would have several choices of what airlines to take. We already have several, imagine if we had a normal situation? Somali airlines is a relic of the days when we had one guy in charge. I'm not against the airline but I'm confident that the airlines wouldn't need government support in the future.

I think the old design of Somali Airline needs to go, IMO.. if you want a fresh start, we might as well go for a fresh, new design.. The following link, I think has the most fabulous design, this is just my opinion.

I believe the job needs to be taken to a foreign company. If Somali's decide to do it themselves, well... I say lets just keep the old design.
