4. Restrictions

A) There is a risk in losing one's life when it comes to the ritual of "wife stealing". Such love marriage can have fatal consequences where the husband can take his wife back and if the new couple disagree, fights may occur, which may lead to death.

B) The Geerewol or War Dance is the “highest” form of dance in the Wodaabe and only men take part in it. This dance is also seen as a competition between tribes/clans. Tribes and Clan take turn to hold these dance “competitions” yearly. The prize for these competitions would be the women from the other tribe, where the men from one tribe will dance and try to “steal” the women away from the other men.

Wodaabe man's Tunic

The Wodaabe man's tunic is worn during the seven day celebration uniting two lineages. It is hand embroidered in traditional patterns on hand woven and indigo dyed cotton.

Wow its nice that their culture seem not to be affected by the world around them. They also seem to be a highly promiscuous set of people which I think its real nice eapexially on the part of the women Cus they are allowed to be like us men and explore their sexuality if they so desire without anyone calling them names.

Exactly finally someone gets it. I would like to do something like a student exchange with one of them - they seem so free especially the women.

The community

In the following clip a Wodaabe female highlights what she is seeking in a male(but I think this girl is playing hard to get haha) and vice versa. One guy is giving tips to his colleagues on the wonders of seducing and a new couple who appear to have found love at first sight or maybe after....er first exploits lol.

These Wodaabe and project is located in Niger Republic but I decided to post this video as it depicts the modern lifestyle creeping into their lives as the women work to fund their childrens education

And the make up um sure I won't need it Cus I will have something better for them besides I will probably be busy exchanging ideas with you.
