Hyderabad, Jan 19 : Andhra Pradesh will press for introduction of 35 new trains, including 17 Mail/Express, eight passenger and 10 Multi-Modal Transit System (MMTS), in the 2011-12 Union Railway Budget.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will meet Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee in New Delhi on January 21 and submit the state’s proposals for new trains, sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) here said.

Kiran Kumar held a high-level meeting with state Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, South Central Railway General Manager M S Jayanth and other top officials here today and discussed the pending railway projects related to Andhra Pradesh.

Though the Planning Commission cleared the second phase expansion of MMTS in Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin cities, the Railway Board has not yet given its nod to the project that has become highly popular and essential, the sources said.

"MMTS is a popular capacity-building project with a high rate of return (12 per cent). The state government has agreed to bear two-third of the project cost," they said.

There was also demand for increasing the number of diesel and electrical multiple unit (DEMUMEMU) trains in suburban and inter-city areas particularly in Rayalaseema and Telangana regions. "The SCR is not getting adequate rakes (trains) because of which increasing the number of DEMUMEMU services has not become possible. We need at least five DEMUMEMUs in Rayalaseema and Telangana," the sources added.New ExpressSuper-fast trains are also required in high traffic density routes like Kacheguda-Tirupati (via Dharmavaram), Secunderabad-Kakinada, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, Secunderabad-Howrah (Duronto), Tirupati-Guntur and Secunderabad-Narsapur.

The Chief Minister would also discuss pending projects like wagon workshop at Kazipet and development of temple-town Tirupati into world-class railway station.

Many other projects that were announced in the 2010-11 Railway Budget, but not yet sanctioned, would also be taken up with Mamata Banerjee, the sources said.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to Flag Off Two New Trains and One Extended Train from Secunderabad Railway Station

Shri N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh will flag off two new trains and one extended train from Secunderabad Railway Station (Bhoiguda side) at 06.30 pm on 26th January, 2011. These trains were announced in the Railway Budget 2010-11. The trains are as under:

1. Train No. 12732 Secunderabad-Tirupati Bi-weekly Express (via. Vikarabad, Raichur, Gooty, Anantapur, Madanapalli, Pakala)

2. Train No. 17639 Kacheguda-Akola Daily Express, extended from Nanded to Akola.

3. Train No. 12752 Secunderabad-Manuguru Tri-weekly Express.

More trains for Tirupati

TIRUPATI: Keeping its promise made in the last Budget, the Centre has sanctioned three trains from Tirupati to Secunderabad, Yeshwantpur (Bangalore) and Coimbatore, making travel easier and comfortable to the pilgrims pouring in from these cities.

While Coimbatore-Tirupati-Yeshwantpur Inter-City Express made its first trip on Tuesday, with formal inauguration at Coimbatore and Yeshwantpur, the Secunderabad-Tirupati Secunderabad Express was formally flagged off by the Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa and the Chief Minister N.Kirankumar Reddy on Wednesday, which incidentally is the first train to link Mr. Reddy's constituents directly to the State capital.

The tri-weekly 12758 Inter-City Express starts at Coimbatore by 0600 hrs to reach Tirupati by 1330 hrs on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The 2544 Tirupati-Yeshwantpur Inter-City Express, starts at 1450 hrs to reach the destination by 2055 hrs on Fridays, Sundays and Tuesdays.

In the return journey, 12543 Inter-City Express starts at Yeshwantpur by 0700 hrs to reach Tirupati by 1330 hrs on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays, from where it becomes Train No. 12757 and starts at 1450 hrs to reach Coimbatore by 2240 hrs.

Similarly, the 12732 Secunderabad-Tirupati Express starts 1750 hrs to reach Tirupati by 0930hrs on Mondays and Wednesdays. As Padmavathi Express runs only for five days a week, the Railways have introduced this train on the other two days i.e., Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This however runs via Pakala, Piler, Kalikiri, Madanapalle, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Wadi and Vikarabad to reach Secunderabad, bringing into use the recently gauge-converted Pakala-Dharmavaram section. This much-awaited train now brings the upland areas of Chittoor and Anantapur districts of the backward Rayalaseema region into the nation's broad gauge network.

More trains for Tirupati are in the pipeline going by the budget announcement. The Chennai-Tirupati-Nellore-Chennai circular MEMU train, which will be a boon to frequent travellers and season-ticket holders, the Bhopal-Tirupati-Kanchipuram Express and the Tirupati-Madurai Express are expected to see light by the end of this financial year.

The railway board has given its nod for shifting the wagon manufacturing factory from Secunderabad to Kazipet.

Union minister for railways Mamata Banerjee had announced that the factory would be set up at Secunderabad during the 2010-11 railway budget. But this invited protests from opposition parties which said that the railway ministry had earlier agreed to set up a railway coach factory at Kazipet for which land was also allocated.

Following this, the ministry constituted an expert committee which also recommended that the unit be set up at Kazipet.

On Wednesday, Union minister of state for railways K Muniyappa along with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy flagged off two new trains and one extended train at Secunderabad station on Wednesday.

The new trains include Secunderabad-Tirupati bi-weekly Express via Pakala, Kacheguda-Akola Express (extended from Nanded) and Secunderabad-Munuguru tri-weekly Express.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister urged the junior railway minister to include Vizag (Waltair) division in South Central Railway or be made a separate zone. He said by merging it with East Coast Railway, people of the state were forced to go to Bhuvaneshwar for everything including recruitment.

The CM also wanted the Railways to speed up the MMTS phase-II, which would help ease the traffic in the city.

Muniyappa said out of the 21 trains announced for the state in the last budget, 16 trains were already introduced. Remaining trains will be introduced by March 31, he added. SCR general manager M S Jayant said they had sent a proposal for increasing the frequency of the Secunderabad-Munuguru tri-weekly train into daily service.

First jerk-free Duranto to roll out from RCF soon

Country�s first jerk-free Duranto train is all set to roll out from the Rail Coach factory here within a few days, a top rail officer said today.
The new train will run on Mumbai-Secundrabad section in February, RCF General Manager Pardeep Kumar said.

The train has been fitted with tight-lock couplers, imported from Sweden, to ensure smooth ride, he said.

These double-cushioned couplers are being used in high-speed trains abroad and have been tested by the Research Development and Standard Organization in Sweden, the rail officer said.

Earlier, one-side cushioned couplers were being used in the coaches, he said.
If the experiment is successful, then old couplers in all Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains would be replaced with the new ones, the GM said.

The RCF has also developed biological toilets to keep rail tracks clean, he said.
The first rake of coaches with biological toilets has been running successfully on the Gwalior-Varanasi section, Kumar said.

The RCF has rolled out 1219 coaches of different types in the first nine months of this fiscal and will achieve the target to manufacture 1600 coaches during the year, he said.

The production of stainless steel coaches has also been doubled this year, the GM said.

Andhra Pradesh CM held a review meeting on the railway requirements with officials

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will take up with the Union Railway Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee and others, the requirements of Andhra Pradesh to be included in this year's Railway Budget during his visit to Delhi. The Chief Minister today held a review meeting on the Railway requirements with Minister for Transport and Railway and State Government officials. The Chief Minister also will discuss the issues of Kazipet Wagon Workshop, Transforming Tirupati into a World Class Railway Station etc., with the Railway Ministry. Railway officials informed the Chief Minister that out of 21 trains announced in 2010-11 budget, 16 have already been introduced and 4 trains are to be introduced soon.

Intercity trains badly needed between Rayalaseema and Telangana towns viz Kurnool to Secunderabad and Nizamabad to Secunderabad etc. At least 4-5 MEMU/DEMU to be sanctioned especially in Rayalaseema and Telangana areas. MMTS Phase-II cleared by Planning Commission and Railway Board is to be sanctioned in 2011-12 budget since it is a popular capacity building project with a high ROR (12%). Moreover 2/3rd cost to be borne by AP state Meanwhile Projects mentioned in the Budget 2010-11 but yet to be sanctioned (Cost Sharing basis) are:

The great thing in IR is AndhraPradesh doesn't have a Shatabdi train.. IR can introduce Shatabhi between SC-VJA OR SC-RAJAMUNDRY OR SC-NAGPUR OR SC-PUNE OR SC-GNTR-ONGOLE.
Even smalll states in North India (Not NorthEast) has Shatabhi, But such a big state Ap doesn't have Shatabdi..

Spl train from Kolhapur to Hyderabad

Anticipating strong protests from MPs, MLAs, commerce associations and travelling public of a few districts in North Karnataka, the South Central Railway (SCR) has decided to compensate for the loss of regular train services between Kolhapur by running a special train till March 30.

The SCR decision to delink Kolhapur-Tirupati Haripriya Link Express and run a regular train between Kolhapur and Tirupati, and introduce an independent bi-weekly between Kolhapur and Hyderabad had led to widespread resentment in the region.

Twice a week

Commuters in the region could use the train service to reach Hyderabad only twice a week, instead of every day, before the delinking.

Hence, the SCR has decided to run special express trains for four days a week between Hyderabad-Kolhapur (07143/07144) to clear extra traffic. However, the bi-weekly services will continue.

Accordingly, the special express will depart Hyderabad at 11.30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from February 15 and arrive at Kolhapur at 11.45 pm the next day.

The services of the last special train from the Hyderabad end concludes on March 30.

En route, the special train will pass through Chittapur (2.59 am), Yadgir (4.21 am), Raichur (5.36 am) Guntakal (8.45 am) Bellary (9.55 am), Koppal (11.51 am) Hubli (2.25 pm), Belgaum (5.30 pm) and Miraj (9.15 pm).

In the return direction, the special train will depart Kolhapur at 7.30 am on Thursdays, Fridays, Mondays and Tuesdays from February 17 and arrive at Hyderabad at 4 am the next day.

The special train will arrive at Miraj (8.45 am), Belgaum (11.23 am), Hubli (2.30 pm), Koppal (4.29 pm), Bellary (6.48 pm), Guntakal (7.40 pm), Raichur (9.56 pm) and Yadgir (10.44).

Hyderabad-Ajmer Weekly Special Train extended for 26 more services

In order to clear extra of passengers during summer season, South Central Railway has extendedHyderabad-Ajmer weekly special trains to run for 26 more services, till June, 2011,as per the following schedule:-

Theextended services will be on 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th April,6th, 13th, 20th, 27th May and 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th June, 2011(Fridays)from Hyderabad and3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th April, 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th May and 5th, 12th,19th, 26th June, 2011 (Sundays) from Ajmer.

The train (No.07106) departs Hyderabad at 21 35 hrs on Fridays and arrives Ajmer at 14 30 hrs on Sundays. In the return direction, the train (No.07105) departs Ajmer at 22 45 hrs on Sundays and arrive Hyderabad at 14 00 hrs on Tuesdays.

If the Shatabdi is granted and runs at an average of 100 kmph, that will make HYD -VIZAG journey under 8 hours, and the same train can be run in both directions on each day. Leave HYD at 5 am, reach vizag at 1 pm, then leave vizag at 2pm and reach HYD by 10pm. That'll be awesome.

Ofcourse, Anyway we got Duronto in this budget. But it would be better if it is daily.

And we got Shatabdi too b/n Pune and SEC'BAD. Railways had run special shatabdi in last year and continuing with old shatabdhi rakes. If the same is made regular then what is the use. Atleast they should replace the old rakes with Latest LHB coaches. Then only it means new train provided otherwise just special train.

In this budget, almost majority trains are weekly trains. So, the same train will be served for other destination on nextday. Like that a single train serves 2-3 routes and claims, introduced 3 trains. This is literal cheating. If they introduce the same train as daily frequency then they don't have trains.

Railway Budget 2011: Kiran Reddy welcomes Rail Budget

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has welcomed the Union Railway Budget 2011-12 and described it as "common man's welfare budget".

In a statement here, the Chief Minister appreciated the Railway Budget for the concessions announced to physically- challenged persons for travel on Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains.

He also welcomed the Pradhan Mantri Rail Vikas Yojana for 114 socially-desirable projects and for creating a separate sports cadre in the Railways to encourage young talent in the country.

The Chief Minister hoped that in near future many more projects would be allotted to Andhra Pradesh.

Kiran Kumar thanked MPs from the state for their efforts in getting new sanctions and projects for AP.

He also thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh , Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee for the sanctions made to the state.

Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu came down heavily on the Railway Minister for "neglecting Andhra Pradesh yet again."

"This is not the first time injustice has been done to AP in the Railway Budget. It has been happening for several years now. In fact, the budget is no good even for the country," Naidu told reporters here.

23 trains cancelled ahead of Telangana rail blockade

The South Central Railway (SCR) on Monday night cancelled 23 trains between Hyderabad and other destinations in view of Tuesday's rail blockade in Telangana called by groups demanding separate statehood for the region.

Hyderabad-Delhi AP Express, Yeshwantpur-Secunderabad Garib Rath, Vijayawada-Secunderabad Satavahana Express, Guntur-Vikarabad Palnadu Express, Tirupati-Hyderabad Rayalaseema Express, Guntur-Secunderabad Golconda Express and Gudur-Secunderabad Simhapur Express are among the key trains cancelled.

The SCR also plans to divert some trains like Bangalore-Gorakhpur Express. It also announced cancellation of all Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) trains (local trains) in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad Tuesday.

The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is spearheading the movement for a separate state, has asked people to stop the trains by squatting on the tracks in the entire region, comprising 10 districts, including Hyderabad.

The JAC, which includes the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and other regional groups, is demanding that the central government introduce a bill for formation of a separate Telangana state in parliament.

Telangana leaders of the ruling Congress and the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have also declared their support for the rail blockade.

JAC convenor M. Kodandaram said the daylong programme would begin at 6 a.m. Tuesday and bring the movement of trains to a complete halt. He appealed to people to make the programme a success by squatting on the tracks in every village.

The SCR, which has its headquarters here, operates many trains through Telangana, connecting cities like Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi.

Both police and railway authorities have warned the protesters that strict action would be taken against them if they resort to attacks on passengers or railway property. The police will patrol important trunk routes and beef up security at railway stations to prevent any untoward incidents.

Director General of Police Aravinda Rao said police were making all arrangements for protection of people and property. The district police, the Government Railway Police Force and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) are jointly coordinating the arrangements.

He said information and past experience show that there is likelihood of sabotage to railway tracks with fish plates being removed and signal equipment being tampered with or destroyed. These can result in serious accidents, causing great loss of human life.

"Cases will be booked under the Railway Act, 1989, in addition to IPC (Indian Penal Code) sections of law. Punishments under the Railway Act will be more rigorous for offences like stoppage of trains, squatting on railway track etc," the police chief said in a statement.

Ofcourse, Anyway we got Duronto in this budget. But it would be better if it is daily.

And we got Shatabdi too b/n Pune and SEC'BAD. Railways had run special shatabdi in last year and continuing with old shatabdhi rakes. If the same is made regular then what is the use. Atleast they should replace the old rakes with Latest LHB coaches. Then only it means new train provided otherwise just special train.

I checked the time gain on some Duronto's elsewhere against the regular express and superfast trains. Looks like we'll gain abt half hour of travel time from this SC-VIZAG Duronto Average speeds of Durontos are like 5 kmph more than the Superfast trains. I hope atleast the timings are convenient - not too late not too early arrival/departure. Keep it just like the Godavari express.

Special trains to handle summer rush

HYDERABAD: The South Central Railway, in tune with the action plan laid by the Railway Board, will emphasise on running summer special trains between various major destinations till June to handle the extra rush of passenger traffic during the summer season.

The other steps include posting vigilance inspectors, commercial inspectors and railway protection force/police personnel to curb touts and anti-social elements, extensive special checks by squads etc.
