Allahabad! Only city in the world named after Allah himself, yet this city is in a country that is mostly Hindu. Plus it is holy Hindu city with many cathedrals! ONLY IN INDIA, I LOVE MY INDIA!

It's an eye opener of sorts. I'm from UP too, from Ghaziabad/meerut area and I'm amazed to see such infra in UP.

Actually nothing concrete has been done for improving the infrastructure of UP , leaving lucknow and Noida , if some capital could have been utilised for developing other cities infrastructure like those of Kanpur , Allahabad , Meerut among others , it would have served the purpose . Once Allahabad was known for its wide roads , posh areas with BRITISH designed architecture and greenery, but it has faded after coming of these ATIQS and AHMADS .

It's sad. I was hoping personally that Peace party would be the game changer (they talk the 'talk' at least), but some days ago the leader of PPI gave statements supporting Mayawati. I'm not a big fan of hers. She is only 'less bad' than Mulayam. But still super-corrupt.

On the note of fantasy: Just imagine if all these old streets of UP could be lined by bright lights and presented as history/vintage tourism. UP could give Paris a run for its money, if presented well. I mean there are ancient stories in every crack of the brick, UP is so old! But alas!

Welcome , hoschi , i am trying my level best to make the Allahabad thread interesting by posting city pictures , the next photos will be of commercial building , Malls and residential buildings of the city. Do have a look at them.

It's Shastri Bridge connecting Allahabad to suburban town called as Jhunsi , yes a flyover is being constructed from the starting point of Shastri Bridge to the starting point of New Yamuna Bridge or NH 27 that will ease the trafiic in the city.

Visited Allahabad after 8 months, the city is gearing up for Mahakumbh Mela 2013, roads are being laid and widened, flyovers are being constructed, new hotels, power substations, sewage treatment plants are coming up. It will be ready by December 2012. Took a few snaps in and around Civil lines, the rest after the city comes into shape.
