MTA transit maps

In short, they stink and are just another example of the MTA failing to create a comprehensive transit system in Baltimore. Is there a go-to map that includes the subway and light rail? Does anyone have a homemade map of their own that they created or found on line?

I'd also like to see the two full-time Quick Bus routes included on it too and passed off as something like BRT.

Does anyone know if that exists?

Here is the best one I've seen on line, which is effective but pretty bland.

EDIT: Here is another one...much better.

I'm a little confused by your post. The map is supposed to represent the system which is pretty much what it does. If the system itself is lacking, that's sort of independent of the map.

Personally I prefer system maps that are comprehensive and don't just single out the rail routes or faster bus routes only as if they are in a coccoon, as you lose a tremendous amount of the connectivity of the system in doing so. Someone heading to Arundel Mills for example should be able to find out about the 17, the Silver, and the J bus, as they are all options to get there from the Light Rail.

I do know that the present MTA map is being redone in style to include an even more comprehensive degree of connecting coverage, including all of Harford Transit, Howard Transit, and CMRT Routes. Also included will be connecting recreational trails and the Harbor Connector. The style will change from literal to a hybridized schematic form that still keeps a good semblance of scale while creating a polished product. I know this as I had a big hand in it.

Stay tuned!

I actually really like the map posted on the MTA website. Especially since you don't have to load it as a PDF.

FYI. BtcoNet works at the MTA.

I was going for something along the lines of LA's transit map, which includes their metro, light rail and busways. I think the MTA could benefit from selling the QB routes as something similar to the LR and metro.

I think it also could be a step in the right direction of getting the people in Baltimore who don't use mass transit to start considering it again, with an easy to read map. Throw in all the local bus routes and it's too confusing.

I'm also looking forward to seeing this new map. The MTA needs a comprehensive full system map that is easy to look at.

Hell.. I would be glad if they got "next train" status updates at the light rail stations.. That would be a HUUUUGE improvement

That would be nice. Any plans for those, BtcoNet?

I think they are a big upgrade over what they had before.

Including the bus routes on a transit map makes the whole thing overwhelming, especially for someone new to MTA in Baltimore.

I think they should implement an interactive overlay system on their maps so that someone can isolate a form of transit like the LR, metro or bus and add/remove them as they wish.

So if someone needs to take the LR from Linthicum to Lexington Market and catch a bus, they can have the LR route show up on the map, as well as the bus route they're going to transfer to.

Just a thought.
