After so many years of big talks and no action it is hi time to change the name of this 'Un Smart City' project.. considering that in as many years a city like Banglore turned into a global Hub rather than foolishly missing the Tech bus being busy in a mere hype of some 'Smart Crap'...

so whats the latest on that dang meeting those Central Govt Ministry Assholes were going to be having to decide on the SEZ status with the Smart City folks and Kerala Govt. Was there any progress on that. So is the Smart City a 'poka'?

This looks like another false hope. Whatever said it will depend on the single SEZ status which will never happen. They have said that they will start construction in Jan/Feb 2013 ***** Subject to conditions which will never happen****

dont see why they need to have single SEZ status, why the heck can't they do two SEZs or whatever crap they need to do to make this dang thing get off of the starting block. Someone was saying TECOM may be buying time as they are short of cash, seems like a plausible theory, hope not, but I wouldnt be surprised given the general state of the world economy these days.

I think we should keep posting any update that comes out, if nothing, to keep a small sliver of hope alive that this Smart City will ever see the light of day while we are still alive.

അതേസമയം, സ്മാർട്ട് സിറ്റിയുടെ അടുത്ത ഡയറക്ടർ ബോർഡ് യോഗം ദുബായിൽ തന്നെ ചേരാൻ തീരുമാനമായിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജനവരി 15ന് മുമ്പ് യോഗം നടത്താനാണ് നീക്കം. കൊച്ചിയിലെ സ്മാർട്ട് സിറ്റി പദ്ധതിയ്ക്കായി ദുബായ് സംഘം ഇതിനകം 130 കോടി രൂപ ചെലവാക്കിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. സ്മാർട്ട് സിറ്റിയുടെ കേരള അക്കൗണ്ടിൽ 195 കോടി രൂപയാണ് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. ഇതിൽ നിന്നാണ് 130 കോടി രൂപ ചെലവാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.

പദ്ധതി യാഥാർഥ്യമാകാതെ തന്നെ ഇത്രയും പണം കേരളത്തിൽ മുടക്കേണ്ടി വന്നതിൽ ടീകോമിന് നീരസമുണ്ട്. പദ്ധതിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട നടപടിക്രമങ്ങൾ സമയബന്ധിതമായി പൂർത്തിയാകുകയാണെങ്കിൽ കൂടുതൽ പണം മുടക്കാൻ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടില്ലെന്ന് ഇവർ സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാരിനോട് വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സെസ് സംബന്ധിച്ച് വ്യക്തതയുണ്ടായാൽ സ്മാർട്ട് സിറ്റി നിർമാണത്തിന് മറ്റ് തടസ്സങ്ങളൊന്നുമില്ലെന്നാണ് ടീകോമിന്റെ വാദം.
