Completely agree especially from that angle it adds so much to the skyline but also paves the way for new highrises in between which will helps expand and give a tad more desity to the skyline.

I was pleased to see that I'm not alone. John Hancock Tower made it into the ugly skyscarpers thread, and when I was at the top of ESB, my friend who was with me said that the building with the slanted roof is an eyesore.
Totally disagree. The ESB slanted roof does stand out in the NYC skyline which to me is a good thing. Hancock is a standout skyscraper in Chicago.

Henninger Turm in Frankfurt is easily a candidate for the most ugly tower in Europe, but hey so are most of the Frankfurt skyscrapers. Only Deutsche Bank can contribute to a good design in architecture ....

I think it kinda blends in with the rest of the skyline.

This thread really is pretty much becoming a duplicate of the Ugly Building thread.

Not necessarily.

Many people pointed out (each to their own, but I could see the reasoning) that 2-IFC ruined Hong Kong's skyline (from the north side) because it stuck out so much compared to the rest of the buildings.

I agree with these people to an extent. 2-IFC sticks out from Braemar Hill too, but looks great. 2-IFC looks great from the Peak. From Tsim Sha Tsui, it's too 'in your face'.

However, the addition of the ICC across the harbour has basically complimented it really well (but will never be able to change the 'view' from Tsim Sha Tsui).

Of course, the extent isn't as obvious into turning the skyline ugly, but building the tower about 100 yards back would have made a massive difference to the skyline and kept it in check and in line with the other buildings.

I also wish Jardine House, a couple of the art-deco/Gotham City styled buildings (9 Galleria, Entertainment Building etc), the old Hang Seng Bank tower and the old Ritz Carlton building were considerably taller so they were more prominent in the skyline, and that Lippo Centre was more prominent (fantastic building that's hidden from the skyline) and that City Hall weren't so ugly and so prominent.

The Montparnasse Tower. I don't mind the actual building, but the location and scale is abysmal.

Although not strictly a building, I nominate the CN Tower in Toronto. It's not ugly, but it dwarfs an impressive skyline imo.

No way. The CN Tower completes the Toronto skyline and makes it iconic. That tower in Milan is such a piece of shit. So ugly.

.... the cn tower is awsome and in a perfect position; with the rogers center, it makes the skyline even more special!.. toronto without the cn tower would be like ny without ESB

I thought everyone loves this tower but ok..I respect opinions

Another example would be the Taipei 101 imo..
