Yea, there should be. And it's 8th and not the 7th store in Kochi. We already have 7 at MG Road (Shenoys and Pallimukku), Oberon, CIAL IT, CIAL DT, Leela InfoPark & Fort Kochi.

CCD

It would be really great if they also start Pizza Hut, Subway or Dominos in Infopark. They will do very well even better than CBD area since there will be a whole lot of IT professionals.

In fact Technopark that way has lot more of these international food brands.Hope these food outlets will come up gradually in IP too.

The quality of restaurants in Infopark restaurants are not up to the mark. There is one cafeteria in Thapasya which is awful. But the food outlet Chill N Grill is better. There is also another one near Thapasya parking area which is just average.

Nila in L&T is above average compared to other Infopark restaurants. Breakfast in IRCTC in Athulya is awesome.

Good, if some restaurants come near IP, not inside it.... It will benefit that area, as people like me who stay very close to IP, finds the area, which has several apartments and residences, one has to travel around 3 Kms to reach some place that serves some quality food.......

Equally I feel, we must come out of the concept, techies and IT Professionals eat and drink only Fast food.... They all are like us, prefering simple regular meals on daily basis..... The area itself lack that first, forget fast food brands, which come second.....

I hope, soon, we can see some quality restaurants opening in the area and equally brands too.....

Have been there a couple of times. They are the best in town , when it comes to ambience , just like their outlet in church street bangalore.
Good Service.
Would disagree to the point that they serve the best coffee in town. Cocoa tree is still the best and the prices are on a higher side. around 20-30 ruppees more than cocoa tree or ccd. Even a green tea costs around 70+ tax , if i remember it right compared to 40 on cocoa tree.

This sector is employing lots of youngsters, who making pretty good sum... My friend, who decided to start a Coffee shop, despite of being CMO of young techie company, says that the sector is rewarding much more at lower marketing costs....

Even French Toast is owned and runned by a couple, who took break from their highly paid corporate life......

Its indeed a good start-up ventures and if some clicks, they all go to next level..... Many such brands had humble beginnings...... But what really suprises me, Kochinites spends more time now a days in cafes.... Something really unbelievable, even 3 years back......

I wont agree completely with it. Even 3 years b4, there was a gud number of coffe shop goers in Kochi. Only thing was that the options where limited to cocoa tree @ south, coffe beans, kashi, barista, ccd etc at that time.

Now the list is much bigger with the inclusion of cafe @ kochi, brew room , french toast, panampally cocoa tree, chillax and many more. The potential of this business has been identified and many are into this now

In past, cafe was more associated people of higher strata.... I still remember, one of my friend was so hesitant to have coffee in Coffee Beanz... Now its became so common.... Its now becoming almost like coffee house revolution happened in Calcutta, which inturn produced several intellectuals.....

Anyway good to see lots of such are opening

Oorru- The Wayanadan Tribal Restaurant

Kochinites can now taste rarest of rare Tribal foods, with specialties of Wayanadan Kurumar Tribals... The restaurant claims to be India's first tribal themed restaurant.

Kochi's Portugal connect still remains in its colonial delicacies

Quote:
The Anglo-Indians of the south Indian state of Kerala dish out centuries-old creole Portuguese recipes for Xmas, writes Renjith Leen

LIKE all festivals, Christmas is a feast for the senses. While the green Christmas tree decorated with glittering ornaments and gold and silver tinsel are a sight to behold, the sweet carols are soothing to the ears and they take you to another plane altogether. The melt-in-the mouth puddings, yummy cakes, crusty pies and the tender chicken and turkey dishes sure bring out the gourmand in you and work wonders on your olfactory sense and palate. The visit to the gym goes for a toss and you tend to forget your waistlines and stop counting the daily calorie intake as it is the only time of the year when you feast on such a grand scale with your near and dear ones. In short, your jaws work overtime to polish off all the different items that are spread out on the banquet table.

This Christmas, Mirror takes its readers on a culinary tour to Kochi in the south Indian state of Kerala where Xmas celebrations have a Portuguese flavour. Kochi is the main hub of the Anglo-Indian community in the state. Unlike their British origin counterparts in other parts of India, most Anglo-Indians of Kerala are descendants of the Portuguese colonisers who settled in Kerala and married local women in the 16th century after the advent of Vasco Da Gama. The Anglo-Indians in this city still treasure centuries-old creole Portuguese customs and recipes, which come alive during Yuletide. In December, it is easy to spot the Anglo Indian homes thanks to the delicious aromas of baked sweets and savouries that are made weeks in advance.

What makes the Anglo-Indian dishes different from the mainstream Keralite cuisine is the fact that they are an eclectic blend of the east and the west. Though most dishes originated in Portugal, they have been given an Indian twist, with local ingredients like coconut milk, spices, cashew nuts and jaggery, says Kochi-based journalist and historian Ignatius Gonsalves.

Walk into any traditional Anglo-Indian home during Christmas time and you will be welcomed with a large plate of goodies like pentefrite (a crunchy, savoury), soulinh (a spongy sweet), vastelyas (a coconut cookie) and bebinca (a cake-like dessert made from rice flour) along with a glass of fruit punch. “Anglo-Indians of Kochi have a unique tradition of distributing consatas (decorated trays carrying traditional sweets and cakes) among neighbours and friends,” says Ignatius.

The colonial touch is not just limited to the sweets and snacks, the various dishes for the traditional Xmas lunch do boast a Portuguese influence. A delight for the carnivores, the lunch on the big day begins with caldegada (a mild Portuguese meat stew) and bread, beef cutlets, duck ‘roast’ (a spicy preparation) followed by rice and beef vindaloo, which has its roots in the Iberian peninsula. What makes the dish so endearing is the delicate tang of palm vinegar that lingers in your mouth. Though most of the dishes would make your eyes water, one can compensate that with the various sweetmeats that are served for dessert. Sinking your teeth into a slice of yummy bebinca is the best way to sign off the culinary indulgence. If you need something more sweeter, there is nothing more satisfying than a dollop of dodol, a sweet made from flour and jaggery.

While meat rules the roost for Christmas, in the southern parts of Kerala, some families do prepare fish caldo, an almost-bland fish broth. Succulent fish cutlets are also great attractions at the table.

Although a small community, Muscat-based Anglo-Indians stick to their culinary traditions each Christmas. Allin Mendez, who hails from Kochi, says that she makes sure that traditional dishes like duck roast and beef vindaloo are there for the lunch on the big day. While Deborah Edwards is passionate about duck roast and pentefrite, Esther Watson feels that the Christmas lunch is incomplete without beef vindaloo and ball curry (a curry with balls of minced beef floating in it)

Another coffee shop, but something different

Its Kerala's traditional Chayakada in new gen format, selling Kerala items and Kerala tea, one of the most iconic socializing centers in malayalee psyche. Captivated by basic ideas, we have that concept in better format where modern gen too can unwind

Opened in Summit Suites in Kalamassery
