That Con Ed plant is a McKim Mead and White design, and should be landmarked in my opinion.

It'd make a good market hall.

Fun fact: it was originally built as a power station for the Interborough Rapid Transit.

This is one of my favourite NYC buildings. the feeling is enchanced after viewing this video:

Last three and a half minutes are focused on the Pyramid

It would be a shame if they demolished the annex. It provides a nice contrast to the rest of it. Just clean it and replace the windows and you have a nice 40s-50s style piece of architecture.

Beauty ain't paramount in a city, the right type of ugliness often adds character. I think the annex is an example of this...

As much as I love seeing construction progress on this forum, I want this building completed NOW!

Wright is right! At first I wasn't sure how I felt about this building -- not purely as a design, because it's a marvel on its own, but rather because I wasn't sure it fit with the more classic NYC designs (maybe, the thought went, the Pyramid is more suited to somewhere in Europe). But then I thought about Wright, and more specifically, about the Guggenheim, which is one of NY's most iconic structures. This definitely shares some of that DNA, like a mad genius has interpreted a child's plaything as urban space. I wonder if the black & white is a conscious reference to the Guggenheim on the part of BIG.

That's a great shot! Shows how massive this site is, it almost takes the hole block. Is there any other u/c site in the city bigger than this?

the view from New Jersey might be the best view of the city once these 57th street developments and hudson yards are completed!...it's not fair they get the best views!!!

@desertpunk or other mods, can you add the 137 meter metric height to the title?

According to SSP it's 467 feet or 142.5 meters

This is my favorite building going up in NYC right now, and Bjarke is my favorite architect. I love how it kind of echoes the Mercedes house as well. Couldn't be happier with this project.
