Wow!! It's turning out really amazing. Can't wait to see this fully cladded.

There was a nice vid about this by Ingels himself on ArchDaily.

Can't post the link because I'm still a newbie here :P But go check it out if you can.

Ingels is an incredible mind and I always love his methodology.

Pointless meaningless statement... or just blatantly racist.

Then look at this picture.

November 2014

A shaded metallic orange, as it looks like in the image above, would have been a beautiful addition to the area. Not everyone on the planet likes the same monotone bluish-grey one color scheme. But it's not going to happen so it doesn't matter. We'll see whether this building looks good or not when it's done.

what's wrong with 'W57'? It practically deserves that name given its prominence in that location.

He's probably talking about Mercury Tower...
In any case, I would tend to agree that orange is not a good idea...
Now, if you're talking about a copper tinting on the windows? Yes, I could be sold on that.

I didn't meant IT HAD to be orange. I was just going by the netting because "it's there" and it makes the building really stand out and look good in the skyline, but any color would have been better. The current gray cladding is an even greater abomination in my opinion. Not only will it blend in with the rest of the buildings from a distance, defeating its unique shape, it also looks dusty and dirty up close. Pure white would have been a better choice. The bright white would have contrasted with the dark/shaded openings for the windows and would have made it stand out from the background.

Plus I'm curious to see how well this will sell. Can you imagine living in this building with that ugly outer metal skirt blocking over 50% of your view and light. Those condo's will be so dark, even on a sunny day, and they will be caves on overcast days. A white porous/semitransparent outer skirt would have been the way to go. It would have looked better from the outside, and of course the condos inside would get more light and be more airy.

Can't help but wonder what it would look like in a city where it would be the defining feature of the skyline. Can someone photoshop it into a smaller city?

St Louis about a mile from the Arch would be awesome.

Did they install the cladding? It finally looks white now.
