What about snow? I can't imagine a bounch of snow falling down your terrace...

Maybe some kind of stoppers/retainers?

Here are some construction drawings that Bjarke showed in his online lecture at IE School of Architecture and Design.

Maybe not the most beautiful roof close-up, but I have to say that the structure is pretty ingenious.
