They are completely rebuilding the lower bowl and south upper stands. The south stands are actually moving further north to be closer to the field. At Huskystadium.com you can see in the virtual tour the new south side. It is the same design as before just cut up a bit into more sections.

Also, please move this thread to contruction....as husky stadium utilities have already had work begin on them.

So are they totally neglecting the north upper deck or is that another phase?

Huskies are still playing there this season. Work might be going on, but the official full start of construction is after the Apple Cup this season.

you are right, the website does say they are completely demolishing the lower bowl and south side of the stadium and moving the field 7 feet to the north.

So the south upper tier is actually being moved or will it get demolished and start over with a rebuild?

The South stands (built in 1950's) will be demolished as well as the whole lower bowl which was built originally in the 1920's. The only part of the current stadium that will stay in place is the north upper stands (1980's addition)...which will be renovated to fit the rest of the stadium.

The track will be gone with the renovation. They are lowering the field and bringing the stands closer to the field. It was a loud and intimidating place for the visiting team to play before, now it's going to be even louder and more intimidating after the renovation.

For the last game, they put a purple line around the field to show how close the new stands would be to the field. Still seems like quite a bit of room along the side lines. Enough room for a soccer pitch?

Who would use it for a soccer game and why would they use it? Qwest field is 5 miles down the road.

The endzone looks to be a BIG improvement, and the sidelines look on par with other places. When the teams aren't on the sidelines, the space looks larger.

Why would North Carolina use Kenan for lacrosse tournament games when they have Fetzer? Revenue. Using the football stadium for soccer, lacrosse, ect. happens a lot more often than you'd think. It's not just a good idea to build the field with the capability to do so now, it's stupid not to because you're limiting it's earning potential and it hardly hurts the football sightlines.

Washington doesn't have to pay to play at Husky Stadium.

Was actually asking because the USA 2022 World Cup bid included both Qwest and Husky Stadium. Whenever it is they realize Qatar was a dumb idea or they give the US the 2026 world cup, it would be cool to have 2 Seattle stadiums hosting WC games.

Right. The soccer team already has a hard time filling Husky Soccer Field which only seats 3,000.
