You've obviously not been all around this site. Welcome aboard.

The average fan that goes to a football game doesn't care about that. They care about seeing the entire field comfortably for the amount of money that they have to shell out to go to a game.
True enough, but if we were all that simple every stadium would look exactly the same. But vanity, pride, ego, taste... whatever, that comes into play each time a stadium is updated or built. Particularly owners and major stakeholders looking to endow their creation with a unique personality. Similarly, architects aren't helping themselves if they can the exact same thing over and over. Variation keeps things vital and can lead to great innovation, even if there are stumbles along the way.

Now I'll reserve my final opinion on this particular renovation until I can see what the field looks like from those corners. Hopefully the fan will be able to see the entire field from there. But with the curve of the endzone seats, combined with the angle of the seating, like at Met Life, you end up with blind spots like this:
I agree that's an architectural foul, but that's not the fault of the curve. That's a feature of the slope and/or the proximity to the field. You can create similarly slack viewsheds with curved bowls.

You missed my point by not relating my second sentence to the first. I get the "we" (Those of us who frequent SSC and others like Baseball Fever's Ballparks site) would have certain opinions on stadiums, but that is because we have a passion about them. The average fan, as I alluded to, could care less about many of the things we care about regarding stadiums and they would greatly outnumber us in any packed sporting venue by a vast percentage.

I agree with you, but I do believe that you can have a great deal of variation without the obstructions and blind spots. With the obvious exception of what an owner desires in a venue that their team will play in, one of the first things I feel an architect should consider when designing a place is making sure that there are absolutely no viewing obstructions for the fans (Who are usually the folks footing a good deal of the bill for these places).

And there are some great plays that happen from time to time in the corners of the endzones. It amazes me that an architect, while modelling their design on a computer, doesn't examine every angle to make sure that you can see the entire field before finishing the design. With the cost of these places, these kind of flaws are inexcusable.
Was this photo taken while sitting in the seat? Does the blind spot disappear when you stand up? 99% of the time that kind of blind spot would be inconsequential and when the time comes where there is a throw to the corner of the end zone, I guarentee no one is sitting down for it.

My bet is that you still can't see the whole corner while standing up. And I guarantee the people in front of you are standing up also, which would still make it a terrible view. The only good view from that corner would be the first couple of rows.

So that's ~35 dates between the Sounders, Seahawks and Huskies. Not bad.

But seriously, could be a few more with Sounders playoffs, Champions league, and US open cup matches.

Husky stadium is going to absolutely mind blowing when its done. Apparently they are now spending an additional $20million on audio visuals for all athletic facilities. Hec Ed pavilion just got its new jumbo screen and visual enhancments throughout the arena...here are some pics...

Like to Article about UW being ahead of the college world in providing an experience that will be unmatched.

Great pic. Subway station being built on the left, plus a wide skybridge to the main campus.

My decades-long horror continues about the parking lot on the right. The new track (as track was kicked out of the stadium forever) seems to have taken a little of it. But what a great spot that would be for stacking parking plus some student housing. The UW is building thousands of student beds on the upper left of the photo, but maybe they'd do more.
