Its time for...

LIMA

Lima was the Capital of the Spanish Territories in South America. Since then its decline started. First when the Territories of La Plata and New Granade were taken and then with the Independance process of the South American Republics. Lima suffered hugely in the Pacific War at the end of the 19th Century but recover in the first half of the 20th Century when it became a prosperous city until the Military Coup in 1968. Years of bad governments, hyperinflation, terrorism and internal migrations make Lima the South American Calcutta. However the 90s became a recovery period for the old City of the Kings. Today Lima, after 20 years of intensely economic growth, has become a dynamic city and a melting point for the European, Andean, Black and Asian cultures. This has make of the city the Culinary Capital of Latin America, as the Peruvian Cousine takes-off with huge international recognition. The city is a mix of pre inca ruins, colonial buildings, republican monuments, brutalism, tudor, modern buildings, informal neighbourhoods, etc, etc, etc.

Bogota

The capital city of Colombia is undoubtly one of the most interest ones in Latin America. It gain importance when it became Capital City of the New Granade Viceroyalty, a huge territory that included all the northern part of South America. With Independance from Spain it became the center of the Great Colombia wich extended through the actual territories of Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador. In the 20th Century it became known as the Athens of the Andes not only because of the enormous amount of theatres, museums and libraries that posses, including the Virgilio Barco Library (the biggest one in South America) but also because of the high cultural level of its inhabitants, who are known for speaking one of the best Spanish in the World. As Lima, Bogota was for long time a black sheep among South American cities due to the bad reputation that drug mafias and terrorist groups gave not only to the city but to the whole country. Today Bogota is a renewed city which is safe to walk and it has been revitalized with all kind of business and with one of the first, most efficient and biggest BRT System (Bus Rapid Transit). The Transmilenio is Bogotas massive transport system, with special lanes for articulated buses that go all around the city. Bogota is also environmentally friendly and the use of bycicle is extended through out the population.

Yes... in some perspectives it looks like a Spanish city maybe Madrid, Bilbao or a town in Andalucia, in others it looks like London or other British cities, in others looks like Cuzco, also like Istambul.
I found it a really stunning and attractive city.
