Riau Main Stadium is located in the Panam Sport Complex. This stadium is built to host Pekan Olahraga Nasional (The National Game) in 2012.

Not really replacing, The Kaharudin NST stadium (shown in Google Earth) is currently undergoing major renovation. The stadium is planned to be the secondary city stadium.

We don't know exactly which rendering is approved. However, the construction has already commenced.

Some part of the stadium already begin to be demolished.

The stadium is already closed for any sport events anyway.

Anyway, why the NOT-WELL-KNOWN city in Indonesia like Pekanbaru all of sudden surprises the world by building quite big olympic stadium. It is because Pekanbaru will be the host of 18th PEKAN OLAHRAGA NASIONAL in 2012. It is the largest multi-sport event held every 4 years in Indonesia.

Not only the stadium, we also build more sport venues and renovate the old ones.
