It's probably about LN1439 RC002 A7-HHE for Qatar Amiri (formerly 3rd 747-8I test frame). It's currently being painted in Victorville, CA.

3rd one undergoing VIP interior furbishing is LN1510 RC069 B-2479 Air China (as presidential aircraft)

Quote:
Lufthansa Technik delivers second VVIP Boeing 747-8

Lufthansa Technik’s Completion Center has finished the VVIP cabin
conversion of the second Boeing 747-8 in Hamburg. The aircraft has
now been delivered to an undisclosed customer. Another aircraft of
this type is currently undergoing completion. Lufthansa Technik AG
has at times equipped three 747-8 in parallel.

In the past the company equipped fourteen aircraft of the
predecessors to the current Boeing 747-8 and is thus the leading
provider for this aircraft type throughout the entire industry. “The
delivery of this second 747-8 is another milestone for us in the area
of VVIP completions for widebody aircraft. We have handed over an
individually designed, state-of-the-art aircraft fitted with
high-quality materials to meet the most discerning demands in terms
of exclusivity and comfort,” says Walter Heerdt, Senior Vice
President VIP & Executive Jet Solutions. “The many years’ experience
with different aircraft types, our innovative strength and the
passion of our employees has enabled us to set new standards.”

The cutting edge design of the 440 square meter cabin contrasts
strongly with classic design. In addition to many new features and
innovations, materials were also used for the first time that posed
significant challenges for the engineers. The integrated cabin
management and on-board entertainment system offers the latest
standard in entertainment and communication. This includes, for
example, broadband Internet, GSM, WLAN, Live TV and satellite
communication.

Lufthansa Technik supports the aircraft of Lufthansa German Airlines
as well as the aircraft of many international customers, including a
large number of VIP and government aircraft. As a result the company
has in-depth expertise and many years’ experience in the maintenance
and repair of the widest range of aircraft types, including the
Boeing 747 family.

In addition to equipping VIP aircraft, Lufthansa Technik also offers
custom-tailored logistics and maintenance services for VIP customers.
A total of more than 80 medium and long-haul aircraft have already
been completed by this Lufthansa Technik product division. A large
number of these aircraft continues to be supported in the framework
of maintenance and logistics services.

The 747 was retired yesterday from AirFrance's fleet. As this picture was taken a few days earlier, it makes sens they were not going to clean it... I suppose

Farewell. Looks like the A380 will be Air France's sole flagship aircraft, yet I think that and the B777 should be the airline's representative aircraft to the world. I hope British Airways will still be able to rehabilitate some of its older B744s to have newer seats, yet I thought: has the airline ever considered getting the B747-8?

Yes, BA considered ordering the 747-8 and choose to replace their 747-400s with a combination of 777-300ERs and A380s.

from economics view it is easy: the 747 is DEAD
-> too "small" in relation to the 777-9 & A350-10 which have the 2engine advantage in operation costs only a bit smaller plane
-> if a route has potential to grow with limited slots the A380 is the effective choice

BA had issues with GE, that's the main reason why they didn't order the 747-8. Instead they went for the RR powered A380s.

Interestingly they did end up with the GE powered 777-300ERs, but that was only because Boeing offered them such a good deal as part of the 787 delays compensation that they couldn't reject it.

I don't think that Boeing truly expect that they will get another larger order by a major airline for the 747-8I. Only Turkish Airlines could still go for it, but I very much doubt that as Boeing will also be very happy selling them more 777-300ER, the 777X or 787s. Boeing will mainly focus their 747 sales campaign on selling more 747-8Fs to cargo airlines.

Painted in the standard Qatar Airways livery, this is going to cause some confusion.

Not 100% true. BA disagrees with you about the 747 being "dead" .... they actually refurbished their 747s and are continuing to fly them.

That's because is cheaper to refurbish old 747-400 than to buy new planes. BA already had facilities that would be underutilized had they decided to buy new widebodies to replace their 747s.

Old 747s would be flying for decades but that does not mean that Boeing would get enough 747-8 orders to keep building them for long.
