Compared to A380, Boeing 747 is a plane that truly changed the aviation world. It is the plane that able to revolutionize the way people travel, and the way airlines run their industry. It is the first true long haul airplane and the first wide body plane to score huge sales.
There is a good documentary video that you might be interested to watch

For me the 707 was the biggest Revolution in the civil air industry. Second Comes the 747.

At first i was disappointed, that i will not fly to Osaka with the Lufthansa 747-8 but with the older 747-400. But somehow i think this plane will be replaced by the 777 and A350 in not such a distant future. So maybe it will be my last time in that plane. For me it is the most beautfiful civil plane ever build.
So right now i am happy to flight with that plane. That was also the first plane i used for a Long distance flight.

The ED FORCE ONE was damaged in Santiago, Chile.

Quote:
Ed Force One was this morning tethered to a tow truck to be taken for refuelling prior to flying over the Andes to Cordoba for the next show. On moving the steering pin that is part of the mechanism that connects the ground tug to the aircraft seemingly fell out. On making a turn the aircraft had no steering and collided with the ground tug badly damaging the undercarriage, two of the aircrafts engines and injuring two ground tug operators, both of whom have been taken to hospital. We hope of course that they make a full and speedy recovery and we will be closely monitoring their progress. The flight engineers are on site and evaluating the damage, but their initial report is that the engines have suffered large damage and will require an extended period of maintenance and possibly two new engines.

Their tour is continuing, most likely with a replacement plane.

Malaysia Airlines is re-activating at least one Boeing 747-400 to operate flights to LHR while the A380s undergo heavy maintenance. Best part is that it will be in retro colours!

Consider the fact that the San Francisco Bay Area has a much larger Indian-American population than Los Angeles (in fact, the second largest in a metropolitan area in the United States after New York). And that Silicon Valley brings in a lot of Indian workers to the region, not to mention a large proliferation of South Asian businesses in the region (concentrated in the South Bay and parts of the Peninsula) that allow such services to India to thrive.

Also the distance between India and SFO is shorter than the distance between India and LAX, plus SFO is a major hub for UA, Air India's Star Alliance partner.
