The 2 Transaero NTU's LN1519 & 1523 are in fact going to Iran Air per a Boeing source of mine. 1519 is being prepped for B1 and then head to paint.

B1 is the first flight with Boeing pilots.

I am shocked that Boeing / Iran Air deal is

1) legitimate
2) US government letting it happen

So that is excellent news! Thank you for sharing and making the deal sound like its happening.

Could they also be a candidate for the test frame not taken by Lufthansa?

In my opinion, that frame is most likely not a good candidate for another airline. It was outfitted with the Lufthansa cabin, so it would not be easy for it to be easily taken on by anyone else.

This most likely means that Iran Air is getting the 2 UN white tails and 2 new builds. Maybe the order comes in as more than 4, or that if their immediate lift demands are pressing, they order more in the near future.

She has not been outfitted at all. She was re-worked to certification standard and fitted with "basic" interior like VIP 747-8Is.

Lufthansa dropped order many months before re-work was finished.

I don't believe that is correct. If I recall correctly, Boeing was using her to test interior systems for Lufthansa, including their selected air conditioning system, lighting, and galleys. Also, I believe the LH cabin was installed in order for Lufthansa themselves to do ground handling tests and promotional filming of the interior.

The best bet is that they will take the two stored that was originally for Transaero and get the units that will be buolt.

I think it will not be a good idea to take the test 748 that was supposed to go to Lufthansa and another incident might happen just like with N661US over Alaska.

LN1435 was used to test Lufthansa interiors indeed. But that was all removed and currently has no interior seats at all per my Boeing source. It is slated to be used as a test frame for AF1 systems before incorporating them into the 2 they order. At least that was the plan 6 months ago.

Indeed. This frame was used for certifying upgrades like tail fuel tank, PIP engines and other minor incorporated performance upgrades.

It appears that 747-8s are making a lot of appearances this year. There was the LH 747-8 at the Berlin IFA which performed a low pass as part of her display. Additionally, beyond the 100th birthday party that has been noted, there will be a Volga-Dnepr 747-8F at FIA as part of the Boeing static display and a Cathay 747-8F will be flying in on what is termed Boeing Day at the EAA Airventure Oshkosh.

When is the Paris Air Show? Do you think Iran Air will be making the orders from Boeing there?
