Production of 747 depends on orders. If there won't be any ordered 747s to produce then line will be shut down.

That is perfectly correct, but I would clarify: It is a question of when there will be no more orders, not if there will be no more orders. This is true for every airliner, indeed for every manufactured product. Every airliner will go out of production when the orders dry up. For the 747 and A380, that looks like it will occur sometime very approximately around 2020. The era of four-engine airliners is drawing to a close.

I've read somewhere that Volga-Dnieper bought B-747 cargo-plane and that they will use it to transport parts for Boeing 787. Can someone tell me how high is the interest in this contract?

I visited PAE on the 3rd of August and saw a number of unmarked 747's in the factory and on the flightline. If you help tie up any of these sightings, it would be much appreciated.

There were two complete KAL B747'S in the factory, I believe that they are probably line numbers, 1537 an 1538.

A white 747 by the Historic Aircraft Museum with Transaero Tail, saw N895BA the other side, take this must be N894BA..

Another two 747's by control tower, close to derelict B787.

Another white 747 by FDX B767 and another Green B747 by another FDX B767

Any help is much appreciated

A white 747 by the Historic Aircraft Museum with Transaero Tail, saw N895BA the other side, take this must be N894BA. N895BA is LN1523. The other White tail 747-8i is Transaero NTU LN1519 and has no reg assigned

Another two 747's by control tower, close to derelict B787. Air Bridge Cargo LN1535 - White Rudder & Silk Way West LN1533 - Blue Rudder

Another white 747 by FDX B767 and another Green B747 by another FDX B767 The White 747-8i is LN1519 & the Green 747-8F is Cargolux LX-VCN LN1534

So to recap:

LN1519 - 748i Transaero NTU
LN1523 - 748i Transaero NTU (N895BA)
LN1528 - Korean Air Cargo HL7639 Painted
LN1530 - Silk Way Cargo VQ-BBH Painted
LN1533 - Silk Way Cargo Unpainted
LN1534 - Cargolux Unpainted
LN1535 - AirBridgeCargo Unpainted
LN1536 - AirBridgeCargo Unpainted

LN1537 & 1538 are inside FAL for Korean Air

According the FAA registry L/N1519 (serial number 42416) is still registered as N894BA

See : http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinqu...umbertxt=894BA

Woody,

Thanks so much, really appreciate the detail and the time you have spent.

There seems to be an extra that I have not recorded, but on looking at a panoramic picture from the 4/8, the following day, I believe it must be the B747, behind G-ZBKG. Also there seems to a B787 there as well, all white, now I would imagine that is a ' troublesome teen'. I remember these two, but failed to note them.

It would have helped had I specified which B747, believe it may LN.1536 in the picture. Whoops it is B767 any idea, which one.

Many thanks

My visit to PAE and seeing so many 747's in primer and complete, is so different to what I am use to seeing away from major airports. About 50 miles from me is an aircraft parting out facility. This is Kemble Airfield, nr Cirencester in the UK, currently there for spares reclamation are 3 x SVA B747-400. The remaining one went to Lourdes in France for scrapping. To see a B747 being torn apart by a mechanical excavator is a rather sad sight.

I am visisting there next month will try to get some pictures.

BOEING | 747 News & Discussion

There are 2 white tail 767's for FedEx. Without the reg painted on them it's hard to determine which they are.

What will they do with that former Transaero plane? Are there any buyer?
