From what I remember with the -400, 3-4-3 is the standard.
Now, i think a 3-3-3 config for the -8 is more than adequate.

I know that the cabin width of the 747-8 is wider than that of the Dreamliner, so, 3-3-3 won't be totally out of place on the -8.

Boeing is producing 747-8’s at a rate of 0,5 per month, conseq. all FAL positions are not occupied and sometime used for other purposes.
Production has almost stopped with slant position #1 and #2 occupied with one 767 (KC46A) and one 747-8 (L/N 1539) for travelled work.
Positions 3 (final body join) is still occupied by L/N 1542, first allocated for ABC but now destined for UPS. (some customer modifications are completed at the FAL)
Position 4 (wing body join ) holds L/N 1543 the official first UPS ordered aircraft.

The only remaining -8F NTU was 1437, which UPS is taking. 1542 was a new build originally allocated to ABC, but which has been re-allocated to UPS, requiring some small changes. Overall, in 2017, it appears UPS will be taking 4 frames?

How much time do you guys think Boeing will give Airlines to order the 747-8i, before announcing the complete stop or commercial 747 production? or does anyone know if Boeing is offering the 747 to the airlines still??

I have read that the A380 has not performed to expectations, so I hope that the 747-8i users like Lufthansa and Korean do say that they 748i has done exactly what it said it would do and bring new orders.....

I wish they would order more...but 777x will crush this.......

UPS update :

- UPS will not be taking L/N1437 from Boeing at this time.
- All of the 14 current orders are new builds starting with L/N 1542.
- L/N 1543 will still be N605UP and the first -8F delivered in late September.
- L/N 1542 will be N607UP and be delivered hopefully in October when cargo deck fire suppression and cockpit modifications are finished.
- L/N 1544 will be N606UP and delivered in November
