Regarding the stored frame, I assume you are asking about the white -8i. She is a BBJ that is awaiting outfitting space.

With respect to your other questions, I don't understand what you are asking. What do you mean "unnecessary photos" and "discussions going on regarding them"??

USA Today has put together an article and some photos and videos about LN 1500 and the delivery this weekend.

There are a lot of pictures from inside showing the assembly of the various frames, as well as some up close shots of D-ABYP. One of the captions talks about the author talking with some LH execs, so perhaps there is another story to come.

There is a video that clips together the answers of Eric Lindbald. In between shots of him, there is actually a decent amount of video of the factory at work that is interesting to see.

While his answers are typical of what we have been hearing lately, it is interesting to note that he specifically mentions interest in follow on orders from existing customers, as well as the usual talk of ongoing sales campaigns and trying to get the timing right.

The article also doesn't list Arik Air as an Intercontinental customer. Usually that could be an oversight, but since the article is fairly spot on with all the other details, perhaps those two frames are finally being switched over.

What he refer as "unnecessary photos" are the photos of airplanes other than Boeing 747-8 (mostly Boeing 747-400) that are occasionally posted by some members in here. Those photos barely generate any useful discussion in this topic.

I believe it should be going into paint in July, with delivery later this year.

Ah. Well, his example a couple of posts before this one is definitely D-ABYP, a 747-8. I suppose if there was a thread for pictures, it would belong there, however in terms of generating discussion, it seems like there are regular text posts on here that do the same thing sometimes. :-)

In direct reference to post #909, take a closer look it's a size comparison of the B748i vs A380 Boeing's rival...

Another good article, with more details and extended text from an Eric Lindbald interview, regarding the design of the 747-8, the market it currently faces, and their plans going forward.

Airchive also has a detailed photo gallery of D-ABYP and the 747 assembly line on their site.

It's amazing that despite the declining popularity of passenger version of Boeing 747, the 1500th Boeing 747 turned out to be a passenger plane. Not a cargo ones.

It's hard to believe it has been a long time ago when the 1000th Boeing 747 was launched (it was A Singapore Airlines' Boeing 747-400), and I believe back then a few would believe that another 500 mark would be achieved....

No that one is still ok I didnt know it served a purpose, but you have been adding unecessary photos of 747-8 here for no rhyme or reason other than wasted space, consumption of bandwidth?

To the poster who said I'm irked by 744 pics added in a 748 thread, no I'm irked by all unecessary 748 pics in here too from a.net and jp.net serving only to beautify the thread and nothing more.

And you do the same at Iraqi aviation thread people are just being polite by not telling you off.

Its highly recommended you show respect to people here and not waste bandwidth, space and time with this.

I don't know, it seems that most of the threads under Airports and Aviation serve as combined discussion and picture threads. Is there a specific policy on this?

For me, I think it's ok as long as it stays on topic, as pictures can enhance, and even drive discussion.

The 747 is declining in popularity, and I can objectively say that the A380 is a better plane, and made for the 21st century. But the 747 is a beauty. Especially the 747-8. Definitely still the most elegant passenger plane out there.

The tweak is already worked out, it just needs orders to make it worthwhile for Boeing to do. And that's where the Airshow comes into the picture, Boeing didn't leak all this information to the press at this moment for nothing. They are trying to get a bit of a buzz going. If they also announce 1 or 2 smaller orders at the airshow it might lure in some bigger customers. Something which is needed to keep the project going.

Was the 1000th Boeing 747 was delivered in 1994? It's the oldest picture I can find of it from that year. That was about 20 years ago.

Thanks for clarifying! Right now, what I know for the original range is 8000 nm.

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Air Show. Hopefully, Boeing is cooking up an announcement come the Air Show.

Would a 748 Combi get more customers and be a better option than a 77W in some cases?
