Sure, Emirates has boosted a380 sales well, but Airbus still has 184 orders from airlines other than Emirates for their a380.

I don't know why so many boeing fans keep on repeating that the A380 is dead in the water without Emirates. Simply not true. If Emirates didn't exist, other carriers would be ordering more aircraft to pick up that demand, anyway.

fantastic ....the 747 series has over 1538 orders and 1486 delivered. A380 has some catching up to do! If you want to act like that!

A good pedigree won't make the 747-8I program profitable.

Anyway, I never compared the sales figures of the 748 with the A380, because the A380 has had longer time on the market.

I know .... I was just giving you a hard time. Boeings 747 program will stay alive due to the 8F version. Nothing can compare to that.

and 747-8i is still a great plane .... it wont go down without a fight or when the 777x comes out. Then its pretty much dead.

General Custer said the same before the Battle of the little Bighorn. Good luck 747-8I!

747 looks so antiquated to me. Even the new model. I think it should retire with dignity.

I think so, besides it livery is very antiquated, it picture looks like in the year 1969.

It´s an old plane with zero cycles, isn't a new plane.

So then what do you think of the a380? I think its a fat pig that needs to be slimmed down. Its no where close to where is should be.

the 747-8i is best technically advanced version of the 747. Not much they can add or change. They made it the lightest, most fuel efficient, and technically advanced 747 they could make.

and if they wanted to add a complete 2nd deck .... they easily could. Originally the 747 was designed with 2 full decks

The livery on the China Airlines 747-8 doesn't do the 747-8 any justice. The livery on the plane is 50 years old.

Well, whether one likes the livery or not (I feel it does sit very well on the 747-8i), there is this new video that documents the assembly, painting, and rollout of LN 1499.

Looks to be an official Boeing product, however it doesn't seem to be up on the actual 747 New Airplane site yet.

I don't understand either why their livery is so lame...

On paper, it's a great idea, with the fonts and tail done by Mao Zedong himself. However, the execution is a bit poor. Actually, there's an Air China special livery which removes the cheatlines, and instantly, it looks very modern, a la Japan Airlines' current livery.

Something rings a bell, but to be sure, could you link a photo?

Air China livery looks good. Japan Airlines looks very blank and vague... No wonder Japan Airlines doesn't have a 747-8.

But I do like the lines on it, it is a retro livery on a modern aircraft. The lines are very similar to Aeroflot's old livery which is still good.

With regards to livery, the old Tsurumaru livery of JAL (the one that they used before the Arc of the Sun scheme) was the best they had, and that would look super on the 748.

No offense, to the Chinese carriers but theirs had to have the livery that I don't like. Air China's cheatlines are off by today's standards.
