That is indeed. Undergoing work at ATS. There is always a 767 there. One leaves and another arrives the next day.

Happy to report my experience with Lufthansa's 747-8. I had a window seat on the upperdeck of the 747-8. The seat itself felt a bit narrower compared to the business class seat in the A380. Thanks to bulkhead storage boxes running the entire length of the cabin there was plenty of storage for pssengers at the window.

The seats are slightly angled towards eachother and upstairs have less space between them than downstairs on the maindeck. Still I prefer upperdeck because it feels more private, has three full time staff for relative small number of seats and two or even three lavatories.

In flight there is quite a bit more wind and turbine noise in the cabin than in the A380 or Dreamliner.

Our flight was riddled with glitches and issues. All right side lavatories were broken, meaning major cues for the remaining toilets.

Entertainment systems frequently crashed for most upper deck passengers including me.

The location of the headphone plug is very inconvenient - underneath a latch between the passengers very hard to reach.

The Lufthansa flat seats are quite uncomfortable and due to the narrow seat (narrower than the same seat in the A380) I found it hard to sleep.

Overall I prefer the 747-8 upperdeck for the more private feel compared to 80 people in business class on the A380 upperdeck. Service is much better. But comfort and noise levels are much better in the A380. My favorite is still the dreamliner which offers a lot of space, large windows and in Qatar Airways one of the best business class seats and service on offer today.

Hope you found my words useful. If so I might share more experience in the future.

Boeing Statement on Silk Way West Commitment for Three 747-8 Freighters

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Azerbaijan-based airline Silk Way West announced that the two companies are finalizing terms and working toward a purchase agreement for three 747-8 Freighter airplanes.

When finalized, the contract will be valued at more than $1.1 billion at current list prices. The order will be posted on Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website once all contingencies are cleared.

"Silk Way Group is a longstanding customer and operator of Boeing's products and services," said Marty Bentrott, vice president, Middle East, Russia and Central Asia Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "We value our partnership with Silk Way West and are grateful for their enduring confidence in Boeing and the 747-8 Freighter."

Silk Way West is an enterprise of the Silk Way Group, which includes 23 companies working in the aviation industry and related services. The airline currently operates seven Boeing airplanes, including two 767-300 Freighters, three 747-400 Freighters and two 747-8 Freighters.

Thanks for sharing your story. It would give readers the glimpse of how does Lufthansa service looks like.

But how does the ride felt when compared to Airbus A380?

Yes I was wondering if British Airways will ever purchase Boeing 747-8i? Considering that they seemed to have certain route that is too small to be served by A380, but too big for Boeing 777-300ER.

Yeah. Maybe they can ask help from Lufthansa to help in pitching in the B747-8i to BA, seeing that they also operate the A380.
I hope BA will purchase some, like 5 or 10.

Unfortunately, I believe that picture and the article are not referring to the same thing. The article is talking about a 744, and the pic is one of the two 747-8's that they currently operate.

Hopefully, the 3 new orders that they have talked about recently will be firmed soon!
