A lot isn't correct. Passengers planes carry most of world air cargo.

LN1513 RC039 D-ABYT is on the flightline. Probably normal Lufthansa livery.

The number is usually estimated at a 50-50 split these days between main deck lift and belly space. That's down from what used to be a traditional 60-40 split in favor of main deck lift about a decade ago, I believe.

As the air cargo market recovers, it will be interesting to see if that percentage maintains or climbs back to previous levels.

http://leehamnews.com/2015/02/04/exc...boeing-747-8s/

Interestingly they are not talking with Emirates President Tim Clark but directly to the chairman Sheik Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. Boeing offers an improved version of the current 747-8I, with all the improvements from Project Ozark including more PIPs on the GEnx. It's unclear how big the improvements will be over the current 747-8I and how it will compare to the A380neo.

Needless to say that it will have to be one hell of a proposal to win Emirates away from the A380. I will be very surprised if Emirates actually places a 747-8I order but stranger things have happened. It could also be a way for Boeing to show goodwill to Emirates as part of their 787 offering for Emirates upcoming medium haul order where they will chose between the 787 and the A350 (again) and maybe the A330neo. We can be certain that both Airbus and Boeing are doing everything they can to keep Emirates happy with all the future large orders that will be placed over the next decades.
This would be nice for Boeing and a kick to the nuts to airbus.....

But i dont see it. Emirates LOVESSSS the 380s. The only reason I see Emirates doing this is to piss off airbus to FORCE them to build the 380 neo

When do they plan on putting this plane under some sort of cover like a dome or something, to shield it (and its visitors) from the elements?

Which 747 model was the first to feature overhead video entertainment? Was it the 747-400?

They are moving it to storage next weekend so that they can break ground on a covered Airpark to house 747 LN 1, 737 LN 1, AA 727, Air Force One 707, Concord, 787 LN 3, and the constellation. Not sure what else will go inside.

On Feb. 9, 1969, the FIRST Boeing 747 flew.

What a glorious day!

Still today, 46 years later, variant's of the 747 continue to roll off the production line. Just recently, the next Presidential aircraft was chosen and it, of course, is a Boeing 747-800. She truly still is "The Queen of the Skies".
