And British Airways still operates 42 of them, some of which will fly until the 2020s. Likewise it is good to hear that LHR will also continue to recieve Non-BA 747s since Korean will be operating the 747-8I into LHR once it recieves them.

They have actually last year. It is just that the 747s will not be getting them since they will be retired in January 2016. It should be on some 777s though.

Thanks. I just looked on their website and the cost is very cheap. About $50 per night! Unfortunately the hostel seems to be full ALWAYS. I could not find a date in 2016 where I could get the cockpit room, or ANY room! They should buy all the retiring 747's if it is so popular and make a fleet of hotels.

Will this be the longest route served by Boeing 747-8i?

No, it's not as long as LH's Frankfurt - Buenos Aires route.

I thought the planned routes had changed, with FRA being the first KE route, and SIN being the second.

Did it change again?

I do agree, that hopefully LHR does receive the 747-8i in the future!

It looks like KE, after taking delivery of their first -8i, they have also announced what will be their 3rd route will be for the Intercontinentals.

Starting in November, they will fly ICN-SFO 4 times a week, with it going daily on the 3rd of December.

http://airlineroute.net/2015/08/26/ke-sfo-w15/

Tangentially, thanks for sharing the Airways twitter pics, Piotr, and as always, great shots and thanks for posting them here, Woody.
